The Demba Ba fee was structured over his contract, Hoffenheim took a big risk and it backfired.

Demba Ba had a clause written in that he could cancel his contract if West Ham were relegated, which is what he has now done.

West Ham ended up paying around a Million for the 6 months he was there.

Hoffenheim are the losers in that deal. They took a risk, it backfired.

Problem is we don't know who the next manager is and who are his targets for Aston Villa.

Can't believe that Friedel is signing for Spurs (apparently). Must look good as a highlights goalie. And he'll be on a nice 50k a week until he's 42...fair play I suppose.
Van Der Saar has retired younger having retained far more of his goalkeeping faculties than Brad.

I like Brad, but there were definitely signs of the old reflexes going last season. If 'arry believes he's a decent enough solution to their goalkeeping woes I can't see them being top 4 next year either.

Been reported on twitter just that a well know german newspaper is stating we've signed/very close to, Bradley for 5 million euros.

I think given a chance he might do well.

Looked tidy enough in his cameos at the end of the season.

Hopefully, if we have lined Ailsa up we are signing Bradley because he wants him and are not making signings that the previous man had lined up.

Blimey I hope he doesn't turn out to be bad, the last bald player we signed without a manager in place is still hanging around.

Maybe it is an unwritten club rule. While we don't have an employed manager, we HAVE to sign a bald player in that time.

I think Bradley might do well given time to get to know the team. If it's about £4 million, and still relatively young, it's not much of a gamble.

To be fair, I can't see Bradley, once aclimatised to the PL, being any worse a player for us than NRC, so it fills one hole in the squad.

But why on earth would we make that decision when there is no manager in place.  Unless there is one and he has rubber stamped it behind the scenes.

if its bradley, i havent seen any official confirmation that he has signed permanently...

if its friedel, that was out of our hands as he was a free transfer... we offered him a deal, so did spuds... he chose spuds...

Wigan have bid 3 million for Boltons keeper Ali Al - Habsi.
Good keeper but Robinson and Foster would be better for the Villa.
