I wanted to argue with that Shrek but the more I thought about it, anywhere where we might be better is so marginal that it's not worth it.

Due to their age and wages I would not want to buy Giggs, scholes, berbatov, VDS and Ferdinand.  And I think there is a decent argument as to whether Carrick is worth the money considering what he is likely to be earning.

But then, its hardly worth getting depressed about as this has nearly always been the case.

I can't help but think that for the money Adam will go for (I'd guess around £7.5m) we could get a lot better player for that amount on the continent.

Agree Bazz. We could probably get better just shopping in the Premiership even.

He'll be another Sidwell only slightly less hard working.

With NRC going I think we'll be in trouble if we only buy an Adam type player. We won't have enough energy of aggression on there.

Agree Adam could probably only play in a 3. can't quite see him and delph in the same side?

Which can only be a good thing. I'd back Bannan ahead of him. Not that I'm particularly convinced that Bannan will make it I'm just less convinced by Adam.

Being rumoured today, emphasis rumour, Sunday Express, that Bent is considering his future at Villa if Young and Downing are sold, he apparently has been making noises to friends and on the net that Villa have no ambition.

Also a report in the Express about Lerner to make a decision on Houlliers health report today!!!!.

Bents only been here long enough to go to the toilet for a number 2 and have a quick shave.
No offence but what a load of bollocks!

What exactly, here's the link, http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/249509/Top-clubs-battle-for-Belgian-best-

 Or your impression of it.

4 Year contract or not, the right money comes in for Bent and he'd dump on Villa from a great height IMO. As Sunderland found out earlier in the season, when he doesn't want to be somewhere he goes on a sabbatical, what would concern me is the fact that if there is any truth in this report he's already making noises after just half a season at Villa.

Don't really want Adam to be honest, he gives the ball away far too much.

Not really! Chu Young Park is ok, he's a forward player, second striker, can play wide.
Nicolas N'Koulou is decent, he's a CB and can play DM too. Apart from that not too much to write home about, I guess that's why they got relegated! Not so long ago they were in the CL final...crazy!

The way I look at it is, who out of our team would Man U buy that would be an improvement on why they already have?

But it's all irrelevant now, hopefully we are going to buy a few players and have a much more successful season next term.

Aston Villa, Fulham and Everton are ready to test Leicester’s resolve to hang on to Ivory Coast defender Sol Bamba.

The 26-year-old former Hibernian stopper, who has a year left on his contract at the Walkers Stadium, has been watched by all three clubs, as well as Marseille and Paris St Germain. He would cost around £2million

Tottenham expect to announce the signing of Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Friedel.

Harry Redknapp has offered the 40-year-old a two-year contract at White Hart Lane and the American is set to replace the error-prone Heurelho Gomes as the club’s No 1 for next season.

I hope we don't bother, he scores the odd goal. He's not a particularly good defender though.
