N'zogbia and Adam would be ideal, try and get Walker in permanently and L.Young and Nige to stay.  I'd be happy with that.

I'd take Foster and Johnson.  Dann is quite slow but a slightly better defender then Johnson but I'd rather keep Collins and certanly try and keep Cuellar.

Anyone know which of them is the better defensive organiser, beacuse I think we need that back there - a Tony Adams type.

Foster and Johnson would be good signings for us, I would not be surprised to see Michael Owen arrive on a free if houllier stays .

My shopping list - Robinson, Walker, Parker, Benayoun, NZogbia and maybe a Serbian/Scandinavian CB. As for manager, although I don't like his demeanor, I think Hughes is very good

Which of Dann and Johnson is more commanding in the air?
Long term I think we'll see more of Clark so a partner that provides the grunt to Clark's finesse could be a good signing.
johnson is better in the air, but dann is the glue that held the defence together...

its no coincidence that they went to shit defensively since he got injured...

although i dont think its any coincidence either that they started to play a 4-4-2 every now and again, and there wasnt as much protection in front of the defence as gardner was shown up for the average 'poor mans sidwell' that he is when he doesnt have players around him covering his poor movement...

I'd actually be OK with this as a back up for Bent provided the wages are sensible.  Wouldn't say great things for Gabby's future with us though.

I'd still hope we don't have to shop exclusively in the UK.

realistically, how many players can you see villa buying?  ive seen posts where people have named like 6-7 players but when was the last time villa bought 6-7 players all in one go?

Summer 2009 we bought Beye, Warnock, Dunne, Collins, Delph and Downing.  Did I forget anyone?

As it goes I expect more outs than ins with the young players fleshing out the squad.  I remember the summer of 1995 when he narrowly avoided relegation and then bought 3 players only (Savo, Southgate and Draper), which took us to 4th.  I see some similarities to now with players signed during the previous season bedding in and improving, plus existing players who underperformed getting their act together.  It'll still take more than 3 players this time, mainly as we'll be losing some we want to keep, but if we get the right men then a smaller influx of better quality might just do it.

Hmm, I'm looking forward to this window. I would take R. Johnson, Foster, Scott Parker, James McCarthy. Demba Ba and then let whoever is in charge surprise us all. Or is that being too greedy?  ;D

N'Zogbia is on £30k a week at Wigan, he won't be staying.

No rumour, but more 'hope' -hope that we go in for him if Ash buggers off.

If were to go with the 4-3-3 of the past two games for next season, and I hope we do, then we'll need a creative midfielder to play alongside any two of Delph, NRC, Makoun or Petrov, we already have the ideal player on our books in Steven Ireland, the obvious problem is he's a cock and his hearts clearly not in it, however if we could somehow get him motivated then we have an invaluable assett on our hands, his best form for City was always in a midfield 3 were he linked up fantastically with the 2 wingers and lone forward, I think Bent would benefit from his through balls, we just need to somehow sort his head out.
