Daniel Sturridge on SSN saying he will look to move in the summer if it's not looking like he'll get 1st team football next season! Come back home Daniel...!!

Sturridge and Bent up front would be much better than Gabby and Bent!
also, we need to bring back Der hammer!

I rate Gabby, but he and Bent don't make a good combo, IMO.

When we had him I always thought of Tommy the Hitz as a decent player with a great shot.  And he still is, but we need better than 'decent' now, so he wouldn't improve us at all and I'd rather give a chance to Delph or Bannan.

Agree John, going back in for Hitz is nothing more than sentimental nonsense.
Sturridge would work brilliantly with Bent IMO. Gabby & Nathan for back up would conclude a great pool for forward options. Although I would maybe like a big strong target man to replace Heskey and Carew, Ola Toivonen from PSV or Olivier Giroud from Montpellier would good options. Failing that Heskey might see out the last year of his contract and could be useful from the bench to hold up play etc..

In this summer for me:

GK: Samir Handanovič (Udinese) or Paul Robinson
RB: Walker or Silvio (Braga) or Dabo (Seville)
LB: Ansaldi (Kazan) or M'Bengue (Toulouse)
CB: Mangane (Rennes) Johnson (Scum)
DM: Capoue (Toulouse)
AM: Payet (St Etienne) or N'Zogbia or Ait-Fana (Montpellier)
FW: Gervinho!! or Sturridge
CF: Giroud (Montpellier)

                      Handanovič

Walker     Mangane       Clark      Ansaldi

                  Capoue   Makoun

   Payet             Sturridge        Downing

                          Bent

Subs: Guzan, Collins, Cuellar, Delph, Bannan, Albrighton, Giroud

He has a lot of potential but hardly delivers.

Double figures in the last three seasons is 'delivering' at this level.

Sturridge would be absolutely perfect for the current system. Local lad too. Almost too perfect to happen...

As for Hitzlsperger (same as Milner, Sturridge an Lescott) it'd be hard not to fall for the romance of it, if it were to happen.

Gabby has 48 in 181, Jerome has 37 in 179.

I take it a lot of those 37 were outside the PL?

Gabby's goal scoring record is great. He gets a shedload of assists and penalty wins too.

I reckon so. His appearances are split over both divisions. And I'm sure he scored more in the Fizzy Pop League.

20 of Jerome's goals came in the Premier League.

I wouldn't be unhappy if Hitz came back as a squad player depending on how low his wages were and how much of a fee West Ham would want. I think some people being are being a bit harsh on the idea as he has improved a great deal since leaving us and has in the last few months he has been coming back from a difficult time due to injuries and an unsuccessful move to Lazio. He has done his best whilst playing in Germany which is why some people underrate his talents due to the lack of exposure that league gets here.

That said whilst I would not be unhappy I'd prefer better.

And Gabby being the equal of Cameron Jerome? I've read some shit in my time here but that is up there with the worst of it. Even if he's not very good he's still better than Jerome... Or for that matter DJ Campbell.

Not enough though. 13 last season, 12 season before and 11 season before that.  There is clear progression there but by one goal extra a season.  Can you really see him getting any better than he is?  At the age of 24, he should be doing a lot better and I really hope he does but I don't think he will.  All i'm saying is that maybe we should look for a new strike partner for Bent as i dont think (IMO) that Gabby is the right man with him.  I hope he proves me wrong so i can eat humble pie!

It would, but then can we keep four of them happy when likely to start with one striker more often than not.

Personally, I wouldn't go for Sturridge and instead give the Fonz more of a go.  I can't help thinking that the difference between the perception of them is largely down to the loan moves they've had.  Sturridge went to a PL club and was played as a striker while Nathan went to the Championship and was stuck out on the wing.

If I'm honest I think Weimann will be a much better player than Delfouneso.

YOu do realise that the players that score more than that are those that we have to pay circa £20m for?  See exhibit a: Mr D Bent.

As it stands I think we'll play 1 upfront and Gabby is as good a player as we can get to be cover/competition for Bent.

If Sturridge is available (then Chelsea are fucking idiots), we should definitely try. I'd imagine Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs would want him too though.

Now, I'm not saying you're wrong here, but does anyone else see a pattern forming?

Vassell is decent, but the Moores will be better.
Stefan hasn't acheived his potential, but Luke is a better player.
Luke Moore hasn't done it for us, but Agbonglahor is better.
Gabby's game is a bit limited, but Delfouneso will be better.
And now it's Weimann surpassing the Fonz.

It seems we always reckon the player coming through we've hardly seen will be better than the last one we brought through!
