Robert Green !!!!
Fuck me - It'll be like have calamity James or Carson back in goal, always waiting for the next major fuck up.

No thanks!

Carson did pretty well for us up until that Croatia game, that ruined him.

Paul Robinson would be a good shout if blackburn go down

Evening Mail reporting that Friedel has been offered a one year extension, either as first choice or to compete with a new signing

Much will depend on the style and formation we're looking to play next year. Play 4-3-3, and I reckon we need a new winger (eg N'Zogbia) and an attacking goalscoring central midfielder (a Cahill like player but not sure who in reality).

Play 4-4-2 and we need a wide midfielder (eg Kranjkar) a new striker (Sturridge please).

Play 4-2-3-1 and we could do with N'Zogbia or AN other winger and a proper number 10, our first since Merson. Again, not sure who we could get in reality.

I'd keep Friedel as a back up, maybe even offer him a Player/Youth Coach role. Certainly not as a first choice though.

Robinson would be a good choice as Friedel's replacement.

Robinson would be a good choice as Friedel's replacement.

I've been banging on most of the season saying that if we are going to sign a 'Keeper from these shores he would be my first choice (realistically) by an absolute mile.

i think the best formation to make us a success is
1-4-2-4-3-1

Tomasz Kuszczak will almost certainly be leaving United this summer, he's 28 and has been understudying one of the best Premiership keepers of all time.  I'd rather us try him than any of the others mentioned in the last 5/6 pages.  Given, Green and Robinson are all the wrong side of 30 (I know they are keepers and that it doesn't make as much difference) and Westwood is an unknown quantity.

can't believe robinson is only 31. Seems to have been around for donkey's years. I'd be happy with him and friedel as back-up

I read somewhere this week that the Boggies have first refusal on Kuszczak and want to sign him back.

Gossip column saying Baggies are after Friedel. How many former Villa keepers do they need?

Westwood for me as keeper. He is free and I think the right profile for us. Im sure Green and Robinson would do alright for us but Im not gone on either of them. Green is shite coming off his line and Robinson moves is slow motion. Al Habsi would be a great signing. All of these will be an improvement on Friedel. Absolute nonsense paying him huge wages to be our number two. Being close to the chairman might come in handy.

Upson is finished. Noble is similar to players we have already. We would need a strong manager to get the best out of Nzgobia. He would walk all over Houllier. Rodallega doesnt score enough. If Gabby got back to the form he showed last season we wont need another striker. Possible left back is that Olsson from Blackburn. Seems to have scope to improve. Noone else in the teams below us in the table would improve us.

We badly need a new manager to give the place a lift. We still have a group of good players but in dire need of some guidance. Hopefully will be like that summer when Little brought in Savo, Taylor etc and let others on the way out go.

What is it with this Westwood that everyone thinks he is the greatest keeper available to us?
