I think he'll end up at Liverpool

I dont think manure would want him

I think you are wrong, perfect replacement for Ryan Giggs!

jesus. Was there any transfer we conducted during MON's reign where we didn't end up getting screwed? If thats the case then i reckon whoever we sell him to, we take a (young) player in exchange for anything over the 9m

These sell on clauses are quite common as illustarted by our one with the Bolton Defender.  I don't see how it equates to us 'getting screwed'?

Watford got a fair whack to start with. Cahill, apart from the fact he should never have been sold was relatively cheap

Watford got £8m (plus add ons) for a first team regular and pretty much their star player.

We got £5m for a squad regular who was just emerging from the youth team.

I cant see Cahill getting a big move. He's not really much better than average.

I don't rate him particularly highly either, but with Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs in need of a centre half someone's gonna pick him up.

He'll probably get a better club than Bolton, but not one of those three. We'll see.

I don't reckon it'd make much difference, I don't know the first thing about accounting but last year we seemed to get £18m + Ireland for Milner, but the deal went through at £26m. I don't imagine Watford just standing by while we allow Young to go for £9m and then get a player valued at £6m in a swap...

Can't see Wenger buying 'overpriced Engligh players', which is what he would be.

Spurs or Liverpool?  Maybe.

yeah so with the add ons they've got probably well over 10m which is the going rate. I don't particulary want to give them another 1.5m frankly

So we're linked with Rijkaard this morning as Houlliers replacement if he's not fit to return. I'd be happier with that than sparky, fat sam or Raffa.

not much they can do is there? as long as the player we got in exchange was not ridiciously overpriced they'd have to lump it.

Indeed. We can't exactly give them 15% of a footballer can we?

I have heard it's 25% of profit we will have to give them though and that is ridiculous.

Don't see him going to Man United. Park was magnificent on Sunday and Nani and Valencia are decent players too so why would they need to spend big money on Young and have four fairly decent wingers? Giggs will still be around next season probably too.

Good news IMO, Ash could certainly take note of some of the things downing is saying here.

Everything Downing has said that I can remember has been positive for the club. On the pitch in my opinion he is our most important player. I have no reason to think that he does not mean what he has said here. I believe Randy will want desperately to keep him, and if he signs a longer contract then that would be a great thing at the end of a depressing season.
