Real Madrid for Young?

Sorry, he's simply not that good.

Well Real bought Steve McManaman  when they were a lot stronger then they are currently, and he couldn't even get into the England team.

Coincidentally, I think GH was in charge of the redscouse at the time.

Or, the better players he will play with will inspire him and bring out the best in him. Young at his best is World Class, even if we haven't consistently seen that since 2008.
The key to getting the best out of AY is to put him in a team of 'stars' and give him a clear brief about his role. I point to his recent England outings and he has played in a more disciplined manner, which brought out the best in him.

I think United will keep Valencia and Nani, even if they do sign Young. Three wingers for a club almost guaranteed to reach the latter stages of the Champions League every season, and challenge for honours in all competitions, isn't too many to carry. They'll continue to use Park as a more defensive-minded wide player when necessary, and Giggs in a range of positions.

I reckon Ferguson will move Michael Owen on, and may also have Young as an option of a second striker. He's an attractive proposition for Utd because of his relatively young age, availability at what will be a palatable price - probably not much over £15m, given the circumstances - and versatility (both wings, deep striker). Not to mention his ability, of course.

Seconded

Average at best this season
You're talking bollocks.

Average against Blackburn? Average against West Ham?

His best doesn't come nearly often enough. But at his best there's nobody better than him in his position in the league.

And that's why he will be playing in the Champions League next season.

oooohhhh a good game against West ham and Blackburn whoopee do.

Count the corners wasted
Count the free kicks wasted
Count the dives and petulence
Count the goals

vastly overated and like all of our players this season (barring Bent and his goals that have kept us up) AVERAGE

You said he was average at best, which is clearly bollocks. I dread to think where we'd be without his assists this season. Get a grip.

He isn't average, he's very good.
But to my mind, he's not in Champions League, Madrid/Manure class.

thing is Fletch, you could say the same about a number of Man U players on paper e.g Valencia, Carrick, O'Shea to name three. However, put Ash in that side, playing with better players, he'd naturally elevate his game and he'd be held far more accountable. At Villa, he's played very well overall, but he must know that even after a bad game we don't really have the luxury of sticking him on the bench for a few games. He won't be given that much rope at the bigger clubs.

I would say he is comfortably better than Valencia or Nani and they're both currently playing for them so I dont know. He's good enough for them and has the work ethic too. He's a natural replacement for Giggs.

In all honesty, I dont want to talk about how he'll fit in at some other poxy club and just hope he stays here.

agreed and especially on his work ethic bit. That won't go unnoticed by anyone looking at him. They can work on the technical aspects, but the boy works his bollocks off in every game. As much as I want him to stay, it will take some convincing to get him to stay. Without european football next year, it's a lot to get a player as good as he is, and approaching his peak years, to miss out on winning things in his career. At any one of the clubs he's linked with he's got a better chance than with us right now.

By not being the big fish like he is at Villa, he will have to knuckle down.  He has the abilty to do this as his recent England performances have shown.

Wouldn't it be great if he signed a new contract and all this talk is irrelevant ?

I like Ba, think he would be a good addition to replace Heskey and Carew

I like Ba, he'd be a good squad addition. Not sure about his fitness though as there were issues with his medical at Stoke.

Amazed you have seen enough of him Paul to reach that conclusion!
