Lifted a trophy?
He lead us to Peace Cup glory

It's the sort of crap I'd expect a nose to come out with.

What's all this determination to find fault in NRC ?

He's arguably been our most consistant player this season. Some people just can't get over his poor to average performances over the years and continue to spout bollocks about him not being able to pass. This dramatic improvement this season is there for all to see if you only open your eyes.

Could we replace him with better, of course we could but the same could be said for the rest of the team. If anybody is going to help us get out of this relegation battle, it's NRC. I'd certainly have him as captain until the end of the season.

Spot on Mark, I'd give him the armband from Everton onwards

I should have added that despite his improvement and importance to the team, I still think he can and should give more. At times I think he's a bit too casual getting back and as our defensive midfielder, he really should be back there fighting for the ball and giving the defence some cover.

I think some of the NRC bashing on here over the years has been harsh
He generally puts a shift in, isn't afraid to mix it, and is a natural leader

You can see any number of people fitting that description in every park on a Sunday morning.

There's plenty to admire about his attitude and application but there is no getting away from as a footballer he is limited. There's a place for him in the squad if he's willing to accept that role but if, as I suspect, he wants to be a a club where he plays every week then he'll have to move on.

Pretty much sums up my opinion on him aswell.

I like what he gives the side, and think his passing isn't as bad as some make out, but for where we were and want to get back to he's only worth a squad place.

However if we're fighting for survival as we are now he'd be one of the first names I'd put on the team sheet.

I disagree John, I think we have massively underused NRC, he could have made the difference between 4th place or 6th, MotM at anfield then dropped was very poor management in my opinion.

He isn't that bad of a passer either and compliments Makoun's style.

We should copy England and go 433 Makoun, NRC, Delph in the middle

Spot on Shrek and then a front 3 of Ashley, Bent and Downing with Marc to come on with 30 mins to go

Do stats differentiate between passing well, or passing to someone surrounded by the opposition, or putting a player under immediate pressure with a successful pass.  NRC decision making as to where to pass to and when sometimes is an issue for me, rather than actually getting it to another Villa player
i dont think so, but again, as you eluded to, that is down to his decision making rather than his actual passing ability..

Why anyone would want Reo-Coker and makoun in the same team is beyond me. We should be trying to win games, not draw them at best.

I guess the logic is somebody has to tackle and until now I've yet to see Makoun make a tackle.

He got a red card for the tackle he did.

Well, the first thing we have to do is stop leaking goals!
Secondly, we have plenty of goalscorers in the suggested 4-3-3.
Thirdly, Delph and Makoun ain't so shabby at scoring, in additio to the front three.
Four: NRC seems to have the commitment and dynamism lacking in some of the other options.

Having said all of that, it's interesting that neither MON nor Hou selected Nige as a must-have midfielder ...
