We need To sign two goalies to battle it out for the number one position- freidal and guzan are not good enough.,Westwood and given or Robinson would be ideal in my opinion.
You repeatedly seem to ignore the point that Guzan has been better in the Championship than Westwood has over the last few months.

So why is one not good enough and the next is going to be our next great hope?
Dave, where are you getting these guzan is playing better than westwood figures? Westwood is widely acknowledged to be one of if not the best keeper in the championship, and has been for 3 years.

Hull returned guzan after his loan but have retaken him due to another keeper injury last week- check the ratings - you seem to think because hull are doing well and cov are shit that guzan must be better than Westwood? Good goalkeepers can play for shit teams- do  you remember Peter shilton being  far and away the best keeper in the league at Stoke- even though they were relegated?

Maybe for whatever reason you don't rate Westwood but to say guzan is playing better is a fallacy- Westwood is consistently coventrys best player and without him they would already be down- do you seriously think a handful of games at hull makes guzan better than Westwood , who has done it over 3 seasons and won the PfA keeper of the year awards as proof?

Do you really see brad guzan as a future villa keeper? If so I fear for our future, I live here dave and am sick of people who watch him every week telling me how  good Westwood is , you seem  to have seen a couple of mistakes and decided he's not up to it-when guzan has consistently performed 200+ games then you may have a case, but on a handful of games I don't think so.

On the subject of guzan I've just browsed a hull city fans forum subject on him and the feeling seems to be that he's not as good as duke or mannone, and although playing behind a very good defence has made some major cock ups especially against reading, and is far too prone to staying on his line- sound familiar?

In terms of keepers, I'd try and prize Cudiccini away from Spurs. He's a quality keeper wasted on the bench
Cudiccini + Walker + £8m = Ash Young

Cudiccini is a good keeper wiki, I'd be happy with him, but him , walker and £8m for ash is laughable, ash will only fetch about £12m due to his contract, and I'd expect for spurs to part with walker and cudiccini for him they would probably be more likely to expect us to pay them cash .

Walker and cudiccini for ash straight swap I'd take as they would probably be valued around £12m knowing spurs, but to expect £8m on top is wishful thinking.

Prize Cudiccini (sic)?

He's 37 and hasn't played more than a handful of games in what, the last 7 years?

The idea that Cudicini would take any prising out at his age and value to Spurs is crazy.

I think Cudiccin would be better than Friedl for the next 2 seasons
He commands his box to start with and has played at the highest level

Cudiccini and Westwood would do it for me at virtually no cost - I'd value him at maybe £2m and walker about £10m- yes wiki I reckon cudiccini would be good for a couple of years and was very unlucky to lose his Chelsea spot- let him and Westwood slog it out for the keepers slot.

What would Spurs value Walker at £6 - 8m ??
I'm hoping we can get £15m for Ash if a bidding war starts
so say Walker £8m + Cudiccini £2m + £5m = Ash Young to Spurzzz

Unfortunately, these days the 'bidding wars' revolve around the players wages and not what the selling club will be getting for him!

Knowing the way levy operates I'd be surprised if he'd consider less than £10m for walker and that's if they'd sell him-I don't think they would want to sell him personally and of course the other thing is whether ash would go to spurs or whether he has bigger options ie man utd, Chelsea , etc.

Not when he still has 12 months on his contract. Didnt we get £14m for Barry in a similar scenario ??

We got £12m for Barry and that's because Man City matched our asking price, not becuase they were forced to up their bid by other parties.

The scenario is this:-  Ash's agent will be talking to various clubs right now and they'll decide which offer they like.  That club will then put in a bid.  Now, we can reject that if we so wish, but if A N Other club bids higher the original club won't care as they know they've 'got' the player and we can't afford to let him go for nothing, which may happen as he doesn't want to go to the higher bididng club.

I think we got £12m for gareth Barry.

I'd expect ash to go for between £12m and £15m max- not sure what  Watford would get of that though?

We paid them 9.5 million, so surely they would only get a percent of any profit we made on that?
