Bayern Munich are in the race for Aston Villa’s England star Ashley Young – and set to make a summer swoop.

The German giants sent their top spy to study Young at Bolton, alongside Kenny Dalglish and Sir Alex Ferguson. And Bayern were impressed – despite his vital spot-kick miss.

Villa may be prepared to sell Young in June for around £12million if he does not agree to a new contract.

Talks may prove awkward as Villa owner Randy Lerner is keen to keep the payroll in check.

I could live with him going to a Man U or Bayern, but a club we should be competing with, as in one outside the CL, would be a bit of a kick in the teeth!

It's early to write Bradley off. It is not easy to make your debut alongside the reserves up against a top six team with decent competitors like Barry, Viera and Toure in midfield.

I like the kind of player he is and think he could give us something we need given some time. If Hou plays him against Wolves for example we may have a more complete idea of his qualities than we did against City.

If you will recall Makoun had a poor debut but is now following a decent game and a half some kind of superstar. I like them both as players and think both will prove their worth but we've not seen enough of either to make a full judgment.

We have an option to buy in the Summer and as such we don't need to decide to buy today.

AGree, bentman- we saw what he can do at the world cup and we know he is a decent player but judging him on a performance at city when there were so many changes is hugely unfair .

I thought he'd start against Blackburn but hopefully we will see him play a few games , admittedly he was very poor at city but so were most.

I'd rather spend 5million on Jamie Ohara instead of Bradley.

Why? They are completely different types of players.

O'Hara as reasonable as he is plays the same more advanced position as Bannan or Delph do. Bradley is more likely to play the same role as NRC.

Bradley can play a holding role or as an attacking midfielder, he has plenty experience in both roles and is versatile.

I agree with Bentman.......in the WC, Bradley looked a good player, and certainly worth more than £5m.

He is 23, and probably more important, a physical presence. We have a sal, dimunitive midfield, we need a bit more of a physical presence, either Bradley or a n other.

I don't think we will have a lot of money this summer, so £5m for a player like Bradley might be as good as it gets, and to be honest, i don't think hes a bad player.Behind Makoun, NRC, and probably Delph atm, but ahead of Petrov for me.

I don't recall Makoun having a poor debut. I thought he did well enough in his first start.

As for starting Bradley against Wolves, i'm not sure that's a good idea. We're not really in a position at the moment were we can let players try and find their feet. I'd go with NRC and Makoun.

Aston Villa face competition from Villarreal and Zenit St Petersburg as they hunt the signature of Basel midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri.

That's according to Talkshite on the BBC Gossip.

This was from last month

. Aston Villa are reportedly eyeing up a summer move for Basel midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri but will face competition from some of Europe's finest including Juventus, Lazio, Palermo, Villarreal and Bayern Munich who are also monitoring the winger’s progress
Basel appear resigned to losing their talented teenager with sporting director Ilya Kentsing admitting: “Shaqiri is a player for a big team and he could play for any top club. But we have no agreement yet with any club."

The 19-year-old was influential last season as Basel secured the Swiss Super League title and has continued to shine this season, attracting interest from across Europe in the process.

Villa may have to part with £7 million if they to secure the services of Shaqiri, as they seek to strengthen their squad having already added Darren Bent, Jean Makou and Kyle Walker (on loan) in the January transfer window.

The winger has played 49 times for RotBlau scoring five goals. He also scored his only international goal against England in September 2010 in a European 2012 qualifying match on his home ground.

Well if that's his role, then no way, he never broke up play at all. We have Hogg to do  the NRC role.

It's just my impression thus far, but he doesn't look worth buying in my opinion, hopefully I'm wrong because he is cheap and will not comand high wages.

Get rid of Petrov & Dunne & Friedel and Heskey.

First thing: get a new GK (given?) , buy Walker, then our defense is sorted.  For the midfield, i would buy Bradley ( if not more then 10 m ), then you got enough options along with the youngsters.  Can play 4321 or 442 or whatever. Adapt the system.

About the Young thingy, i dont know really. He ist a nr 10 player eh? Like a vdv type or a Modric. If you get such a player in if you sell Young, i say do it. Otherwise, sell at value.
