Redknapp says ash is an exceptional player and can be a part of the England team
for many years, he thinks he would get into the side as a wide player but his problem in the centre is he would be in competition with Rooney.

Maybe but if ash does decide to go we could try and get walker as part of any deal, I see redknapp was waxing lyrical about ash in his column today .

Wouldn't surprise me if sir alex was interested too as they could do with his kind of player, again a part ex could be an option involving maybe Gibson or someone of that ilk- we will have to wait and see what ash wants to do but I expect him to decide early in the summer.

Houllier at Liverpool liked to get all his transfer dealings done by the end of June so he could get players settled for pre- season.

What was Rednapp saying?

"He's absalutely 'triffic!"

A bit off topic, but where exactly are Spurs getting all this money?

They have billionaires on the board and there income will have gone up by over 50 million with CL, meaning there income is double ours, that's where they get there money from.

A difference of 30million, The original question was where do spurs get there money, same place we get ours, if not then from all there extra income.

Not sure Houllier will have much chance getting Young back to the wing after Capello's comments about really liking Young in the deep role. Thought Capello's comments about Bent were pretty unfair on Sunderland to be honest. He has played what 3 games for us? He cant have improved that much.

He improved as soon as he  wore our shirt. That's normal and natural phenomena!

Ash on playing centrally,

"I am delighted to be playing there again. I have loved every minute.

"It gives me more freedom to go and get the ball and join in.

"Hopefully I will continue playing there at club level and impress the England manager."

"I have always wanted to add goals to my performances.

"As a second striker I have been getting in the box more often and having the chance to shoot.

"Hopefully I can increase my goals tally."

this can only be positive for us.

We all hope he increases his goal tally. Unfortunately when playing "in the hole" for us he has done lots of running around for very little end result. Maybe he is trying too hard. I don't know what the answer is because at this stage in the season we need points and cannot afford the luxury of persisting with something that works maybe 1 game in 5.

It is my considered opinion that the attempted purchase of Larsson from them was to replace Ash as his departure is already a done deal.

Figeroa , rodallega and nzogbia are all decent enough players but they are probably the only 3 quality ones that Wigan have, Wigan turned down £12m on deadline day for nzogbia and they won't be able to hold onto him if relegated.

Youngs performance last night has done his England chances no harm at all.

I quite like that McCarthy lad too. He can only get better too with time.

If Ash continues to play 'in the hole', and there is no marked improvement, then holding on to him won't be a problem as nobody (bigger/better than us) will want to buy him.
