Is that who we're talking about?

Please ignore me and carry on.

I'm being flippant.

I agree that there are usually some decent players to be had from the relegated sides I just haven't seen much to write home about when I've seen Wigan this season.

Being honest neither have I.

I don't see what others do in Rodallega at all.

Rodallega is decent enough but not good enough to get in our team , I did like the look of the lad who scored against us , mcarthy I think it was , but I agree nzogbia is the stand out player.

As I see it, Young gets rid of the snood or he is OUT!

Wigan turned down £12m on deadline day for nzogbia

Really? It surprises me that they turned £12m down.

Thing is, if Young is off, we perhaps don't need a left winger to replace him at all, bearing in mind where he's been playing all season. So, though I like N'Zogbia (who isn't as good as Young but is not far off and still very effective) we don't need him - we need someone who can play centrally, just behind Bent. We've got Downing for the left, Albrighton for the right. It's an attacking CM/second striker we need.

There's a chap on loan at Newcastle who could do that job. Failing that..... who's suitable?

Totally agree.

If Young goes, which personally I'm not sure he will yet, then a like for like replacement wouldn't be suitable as he's currently playing out of position.  We may spend the money elsewhere and use Delph, but I'd be tempted to look to South America as they do produce that kind of player quite frequently.

I'd freshen up the team but not with Nzogbia he has an attitude problem and not in a good way

What kind of attitude problem ??

An attitude where he thinks he's far better than he is. Can you not remember the petulant little shits hissy fits whilst at Newcastle?

It was strangely enough newcastle who came in on deadline night with bids of both 10 and then £12m for nzogbia but whelan said it was too late in the day to sell and nzogbia probably wouldn't have wanted to go back there in any case.

Probably a case of mike Ashley trying to look as though he was seeking a signing when there was little chance of it happening in any case.

I think we need to see what Bradley does if he's used as an attacking midfielder as he could certainly chip in with a few goals, until ash decides if he's going or staying we are in a bit of limbo as regards a replacement.

He's nowhere near his best this season. If we really want to cash in on him, its this summer. We can probably rob one of the big clubs by slapping a ridiculous price tag like we did with Milner. Then I'm sure Houllier with his French connections can bring in Gourcuff to Villa Park, or miraculously find a Xabi Alonso type player with the help of his best mate Wenger. One can dream....

The problem is nadz that milner had 2 yrs on his contract left whereas ash has just one year and can walk on a free a year later so teams will not pay crazy money for him- I think £12m will be about the best we can hope for in light of his contract situation.

Yes - that 'classic No.10' role! You're right. The kind of role Saviola occupies/occupied so well (not suggesting Saviola, of course).

Eastie - Newcastle. Yes, they did. I'd forgotten about that. Odd move considering they really needed a centre-forward.

You're right. But my point is simply just to rob people off their money. Didn't we get more for Barry than what was initially valued for him? I don't really care how much we get to be honest. I just want it to be a rip off for the clubs (Citeh or Spuds) that will eventually buy him in the summer. ;) We're good at selling players for ridiculous amounts of money remember? I mean, Barry and Milner are bit part players at Eastlands right now and we got around 30 million for them for goodness sakes.

I'd rather have both of them still here. Yes, even Custard Pants. Though on his Man Citeh form we could probably cope without him.

If the players want out, there's usually very little you can do short of getting the best price. There are exceptions, Fabregas, Tevez et.c. But their reasons for remaining are either that the current club looks capable of winning something or they just get ridiculous amounts of money thrown at them.

As a fan, and given a straight choice, I'd rather have the players in the team than the money in the bank.

Maybe but if ash does decide to go we could try and get walker as part of any deal, I see redknapp was waxing lyrical about ash in his column today .

Wouldn't surprise me if sir alex was interested too as they could do with his kind of player, again a part ex could be an option involving maybe Gibson or someone of that ilk- we will have to wait and see what ash wants to do but I expect him to decide early in the summer.

Houllier at Liverpool liked to get all his transfer dealings done by the end of June so he could get players settled for pre- season.

What was Rednapp saying?
