3 points really are needed here, that would lift us further from the "drop zone" and put B,pool further into the pot,
i,m going for Villa 4--B,pool 2 ---two poor defences v 2 forward lines that (if we are allowed and the correct side is picked)
can really hit the onion bag-----Bent 2 Downing, Young, (as long as they remain injury free after tonight,s "warm up"

                   Friedel
Walker   Collins    Dunne    Clark
                    NRC
Albrighton   Makoun     Downing
                 A.Young
                    Bent

Shite game and not expecting much from it and with that probably injuries through training/playing at the pointless internationals.

1-1 Downing 55'
      Dirty DJ  12'

Sticking NRC in for this one is far from the worst idea I've ever heard.

Where has our defence gone wrong? last year they were pretty good, we've got the same players availeable. The only thing i can think of is Milner has been missed as an extra defender.

They always score and concede goals,we can't keep a clean sheet, 2-2.

A high-scoring draw, I think - but I badly want us to put Holloway in his place. The perfect result for me would be a 3-2 win for us, with Sian Massey correctly calling a very tight offside decision right to rule out a Charlie Adam equaliser in the 96th minute, thereby causing Holloway's head to combust in anger.

I'd go with:

                                Friedel

Walker            Cuellar          Collins     Clark

                                NRC

                      Makoun     Bradley

      Albrighton        Bent          Ashley Young

Subs: Marshall, Dunne, Lichaj, Downing, Gabby, Petrov, Bannan

Explain.... Something in front of the back 4 would work and playing without Petrov would play into his hands.

Liking it Merv, not sure John M would be over happy with NRC playing in his natural position!

I would go with a proper 4-5-1 Friedel, Cuellar, Walker, Clark, Collins, Downing, Bradley, Makoun, A Young, Bent, with Albrighton, Heskey and Agbonlahor as impact subs.

We've got to win this one. Blackpool are on the slide chronically, chance to put some daylight between us that shouldn't be closed by the end of the season. This one, West Ham, Wigan, West Brom and Wolves are the big ones remaining this season.

that's a good shout for NRC recall.
He could go man to man on Adam and shut him out of the game.
He's been employed in similar roles in the past and its worked
