Why the doom and gloom? If we are going to win the cup we'll have to play a few decent teams on the way. Over the last few weeks we seem to be turning into a football team again.

I reckon if it's City we have to play, it'll be on Wednesday 2nd March. ( prob the same date if Notts pull it off in the replay, due to ticket sales).

City's midweek fixtures after Notts Co. on 19/20th Feb are,
Thurs 24/2 Aris, home, Europa
Wed 2/3 no game
Thurs 10/3 Europa (if they beat Aris)
Thurs 17/3 Europa ("   "      "       ").

If we drew at COMS, then the replay would have to be on Sunday 13th March, the weekend of the sixth round.

dont think so mate as City have a premiership game on Monday 28th Feb v Fulham

The only way it'll be Weds 2nd March will be if City's TV game on Monday 28th (Fulham home) is put back to the Sunday. It won't go to the saturday as City are at home in Europe on Thursday 24th.

I wouldn't be surprised if we end up going there on a Thursday night (3rd March). A replay at VP would have to be on qtr final day.

Fook em. We've beat them at home and we can beat them away. We are a better team than when they spanked us up there in the league.

It's also a cup game and anything can happen so no need for all the negativity.

Two, three years back IIRC.

Shaun Maloney scored? 3-1?

You beat me to it but it's irrelevant. No point going into a game thinking you will lose or you may as well not turn up.

We have a chance look @ last week they are definately beatable and they have conceded a lot of goals recently in games v Wolves, Notts County, Leicester

You're probably right spangley, although it could be Sunday 13th as City might be in Europa action on Thursday 10th. I forgot to look at the televised league fixtures in my previous post!

Why does wanting the easiest possible draw equate to doubts about our status in the game, or the need for some to reaffirm that status with history lessons?

History lessons are just that - history. The big clubs -the truly big clubs- target what they are going to win next. We've gone far too long without reclaiming the FA Cup, draws like today and soft draws for Man United are not exactly unique in recent years.

FWIW, if Citeh beat us up there I don't think they'll go on to win the thing either. They just don't have winning in their DNA.

I think we have a great chance.

Why? Because the team are starting to look like a team again and we'll take the full allocation of tickets and we'll have the place rocking.

Bring it the fuck on!
