At last.  When will we recognise that we are a Big Club. Our expectations are high and that is why we get frustrated. Yes, I know we have won little (European Cup against Bayern apart)  for ninety years. One FA Cup, a few League Cups, but compare with some others who have that claim. Newcastle, Man City, Everton, Spurs, Wolves, Aresenal, Blues for G sake?

Big Stadium, special stadium, comparatively big crowds. A history that includes founding this and every league around the World. England bowed to Hitler in the late thirties. Villa refused to give the salute.

Everything in football world wide is based an idea from Aston Villa.

Big? With respect to a thousand debates. Who is bigger?

Oh dear. What have I done?

There may be bigger, but there are none better.

Regardless of our status in the "big club" stakes it's a shit draw (assuming Man City win the replay) whatever way you look at it.  Even so, it's who we've got and we must just get on with it and give it our best.

I have to say that ( South Africa so Tele only) we have brilliant away support and it seems to be getting better. Local commentators comment on it. Pity VP is normally so quiet and the songs to benal.

You go there. Why is that?

We have in recent years tended not to face these clubs only because we have been on the end of a shock from a Leicester or QPR.

Both those ties were in the Carling Cup and not the FA Cup as were the debacles at Burnley and Doncaster.  We have, in recent years , only been knocked out of the FA Cup by Premier League sides other than Sheff Utd a few years ago.  I read that we had lost 9 out of the last 10 ties against top flight opposition, the one we had won was Blackburn last year.  That is now 9 from 11 with Rovers being the beaten side again.   So, in conclusion, we do play these sides in this competition and they almost always put us out.  Still, we have hope.

A reminder of the stature of Aston Villa: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/aston_villa/article4652386.ece

It's been posted before but always worth a repeat.

p.s. happy that we can beat Citeh if they get through, knowing us though County might need a replay.

Bad draw but hopefully some decent ticket prices and we'll take a few thousand to roar the lads on.  Anyone know what our allocation could be here?

We owe them from when they knocked us out under DOL (after a replay at Eastlands).

I reckon if it's City we have to play, it'll be on Wednesday 2nd March. ( prob the same date if Notts pull it off in the replay, due to ticket sales).

City's midweek fixtures after Notts Co. on 19/20th Feb are,
Thurs 24/2 Aris, home, Europa
Wed 2/3 no game
Thurs 10/3 Europa (if they beat Aris)
Thurs 17/3 Europa ("   "      "       ").

If we drew at COMS, then the replay would have to be on Sunday 13th March, the weekend of the sixth round.

We should get at have to get 15% so that should be about 7200 as Eastlands holds 47,700
