Villa1, I got the impression that the song was new to you and there's a zest to your posts that suggests youthful vigour but apologies if I have misjudged it.

I suppose it depends what you class as the 'younger generation'. I'm 32. My dad first took me in The Holte when I was 10. And I stood on a crate!

Even so, I can't recall the last time I heard the song at a match and have never known the words.

It isn't new to me, I just don't remember it.

Hopefully the whole ground joins in, not just a couple of thousand in the Holte. Lets get VP rocking again, starting sunday.

The whole ground singing this and twirling scarves as the players come out will look and sound fantastic.

Sigh, I was watching Dean Saunders banging them in and Steve Froggatt always getting injured at 32....

The 'Do you believe in the Villa?' song should definitely be brought back and sung on sunday. Very good.

Just watched the video and have to agree. Never heard that one before so i'd better start learning some words!

I know I really should be more interested in whether we will be playing Brighton in August, but I am really really looking forward to singing my favourite chant on Sunday.

For the life of me I could never understand why it died out. Maybe as it doesn't have the words f*** c**** b****ks or B****rd in it - it isn't cool anymore.

But welcome back to a good friend !!

Fantastic.......i remember doing the slow version of "VVVVVVVVVilla"., gospel style at Wolves circa 1980,. great version of a unique Villa song.

I remember "Big H" singing that in the Springbok at QPR away last game of the season when we were supposed to win the league.  Then back to the Ben Johnson to celebrate winning the title.

My hangover kicked in before I'd finished drinking that day.

If anyone comes on the PA and says, right we want you all to clap your hands, wave your scarves and singalong to this I'm heading straight for the exit. It's almost as embarrassing as being given a plastic flag to wave when you come through the turnstile.

Artificial atmospheres are for people who wear jesters hats in their team colours and miss the ten minutes either side of half time so they can fill their faces with £5's worth of burger and chips.

Sorry to be a killjoy but I just don't see the point in a club anthem.  It smacks of American style cheese and will most likely have absolutely no tradition or historical attachment to the club whatsoever.

Fair play to everyone who was involved in setting this up and who turned up on the day.

If i'm honest, I find the song a little dreary and uninspiring. I'm hoping i'll change my mind when I hear a couple of thousand singing it.

I recall it being sung when we beat Spurs away 2-0 the season when we were runners-up under Sir Graham Taylor.  It just kept going, the "best in the land" lines getting louder and louder, faster and faster.  Genuinely, it was superb.  What better way to lift the team than by telling them they're the best bar none?  White Hart Lane was silent and this song just kept rolling out.  Stirring stuff.

Fantastic and well done to all concerned.

Was that the night of Ormondroyds wonder strike? One of my favourite away trip memories with the Villa, we went top of the league that night.
