Checking the records, I was surprised to see that the attendance was just over 25,000. Still massive by 3rd division standards but it was early season and the attendances really took off as the season continued and we swept everybody aside.


I firmly believe that the attendance was recorder incorrectly, something close to 10,000 out.  It was the way of things then to understate the actual attendance.  There never seemed to be any correlation to how many was actually there and how many were recorded as being there.  It was either due to bent turnstile operators or our directors wanted to evade tax.  It was probably a bit of both.
