What are all these rumours about a second signing? Surely it wouldn't be possible to keep somebody else totally seceret in this day and age?
£18m = 36 McGraths and a David Platt with some change to spare. No pressure Daz
My, you don't like Villa much do you?A couple of points. The local journos much closer to the story than you are, say that the deal is £18M up front and £6M possible add-ons depending on Villa's performance. Alot of money sure, but get the facts right.Secondly, the reason the blessed Martin didn't get the money was because he failed to shift the deadwood from the squad - as he agreed to do - over several transfer windows. His legacy was a couple of fantastic signings (Young and Milner) and a whole series of expensive dross, that he brought to the club on massive wages, and yet never played. He threw his toys out of the pram and left - though I am sure he saw the writing on the wall that the chickens were coming home to roost with his poor squad assembly.Thirdly, to say Houllier has failed with the same players is frankly, stupid. Do you know how many injuries Villa have had this season? At times there have been 8 or 9 first team players out. O'Neill would have certainly struggled in the circumstances and I doubt he would have shown such faith in Villa's youngsters - a move that will no doubt prove a benefit to the club in the future. Finally - when is a signing an act of desperation as opposed to one of ambition? I suppose it depends on the angle you are trying to get across. How is Martin by the way?
Why the delay in announcing it? Do they not realise I'm going out in a bit?Hope there hasn't been a snag.
