Maybe we could do a part exchange and send them Ireland. That would bring the price down a bit and he gets his move back up north.

I thought Sunderland signed him for 14m?He's gone there and scored 30 odd league goals in 18 months so they were always going to make a profit on him.

It's like dillusional Spurs fans thinking Gareth Bale is worth £35 million plus. You pay for what you get and if Bent's gonna bang in the goals, then I guess he's worth it.

pete bI'm gobsmacked here, gutted. it's all very well getting £18-£20m but you've got to find 20 goals a season and I think (aside from yesterday) Gyans a scorer of great goals not a great goalscorer. Can Welbeck and Campbell step it up?

bootsSunderland til I die.So despite my disapointment on hearing the news my considered response is - meh. Hes been shit lately and doesnt exactly contribute to a flowing footballing style. Hel be difficult (but not impossible to replace). That said £18m would buy us almost anybody except aunty Carrol.

. Not sure what this means for gabby really. Two fwds of their relatively lye technique would leave us fairly predictable I reckon
