I don't care how much we pay. If we sign Bent, I'll be delighted. Just what we need right now. It would then put a big onus on Houllier to start turning things around. The defence is looking a little tighter of alate, and the addition of a frontman who can convert some of our chances too, and we will start to climb the table. Long term, we're gonna always have more potential than Sunderland in all honesty. Next season who's to say we don't kick back up the table to top 6 again? Whether it's with GED, I doubt, but tyo be fair to him, he's made two decent signings so far, and adding Bent would be quite a coup, even for that price.

I agree Tommy,   you think of all the money wasted on Sidwell,Shorey,Davis and Beye, shall I go on , a goalscorer as good as Bent is a bargain at that price...

Doubt Ireland is part of the deal. I think the deal is 18Million and then add on's. Though i think they will buy Stephen Ireland outright as we seen with the Milner deal a swap is very complex.

I like the way Ireland is always portrayed as £8m currency.  Wonder what i'd get if I asked the bank to take out £8m out of my account?  (If i had that)

its just a novelty to get linked with decent players again. Ive always thought Bent would be a good signing and we should have gone for him when he left spurs i dont think he will ever be an England striker but he will get any team 20+ goals hope this comes off

I've never doubted Randy Lerner.

I wouldn't have trusted MON with £18m.

What a shame we didn't get him when he was going for £12m.

We all wanted him. Shame MON didn't at the time. Still better late than never. This will make a massive, massive difference to who we are over the next few years. If this comes off it will be so huge. Delighted about this.

If this goes through, along with being a great signing and a mark of intent from the club, I can't help hoping it will also demonstrate to the world what a petulant little shithead O'Neiil is ....... with his mummy I don't like the sweeties you bought me yesterday, I want some more attitude!! (at this point MON lies on floor and refuses to go to school). Please please Porno Dwarf sign the cock...

If it comes off, this will be the ballsiest transfer we've pulled off in a long time, perhaps ever in my time supporting the club. As often happens with Villa, I hope there isn't a downside (i.e. Young going), but it's exciting waiting to see what happens. I think he'd be an ideal addition, and another step in the right direction. Would shut those fucking press monkeys up as well. A big brass-balled statement of intent. Nice one Villa.

Haven't seen or heard anything about Ireland in the media, they all seem to be going with £18m bid . If ash could be tied to a new contract even better, let's hope now randy has backed his man that the fans get off houlliers back and give him a chance- the quality of players he is chasing are very exciting.
