I met Earl just after he signed, at Rosies in Solihull, he was with Yorke who knew one of the girls we were with.

It was my 21st Birthday, we'd had a meal at the Barn on Hockley Heath and I was subject to a Birthday treat in the form of a "Roly Poly" kiss-o-gram.

Different times.

I was in a museum in Tarragona this lunchtime when I saw a local teenager wearing the current Villa shirt. Had a little chat with him, turns out he was (not surprisingly in Tarragona) a Barcelona fan, and had chosen the Villa shirt because he just loved it (rather than through any particular affinity with the club).

My UTV to a late teen wearing last seasons away top in Boscastle yesterday didn’t draw much of a response.

Not surprising if he was dead.

Gave an UTV to a fellow guest wearing last season’s home shirt in our hotel in Sorrento last week.

Received a smile and appreciative giggle in return.

Although it was a teenage girl so smile and giggle might both have been “do not address or look at me you lecherous old creep” nerves vibe.

I always give it an UTV when I see a fellow fan. I did it to a bloke at the airport coming home recently, gave it the thumbs up for added Brummie authenticity and he said "yes, thank you" which was a very odd response.

Some said it to me a month or two ago and I said thanks. Such a weird response from me. It was like when someone says happy birthday and you accidentally say “you too”.

I’m still thinking about it.

Not Villa related, but there was a car parked up slightly over hanging my drive when I pulled up, a bit wound up in fairness, the other week, had to mount the kerb rather than the drop kerb to get on. I jumped out and shouted a few choice words to the driver, obscured by the tinted windows, thinking they were some delivery or taxi that have a habit of doing such things of late.

Of course then I hear behind me my neighbours lad, lovely polite kid, shouting his apology as it's his girlfriend in the car and they were just moving the cars around on their drive. I was mortified, still am.

Reminds me of when I shouted at my neighbour for not having his bounding boxer dog on a lead when my cat was following me to the shop (In truth, I was more scared of his dog for myself, rather than the cat).

He slunk off to his front door and shouted back at me as he opened it: “look how tame it is, it didn’t even go for the cat”.

I said “Get in your fucking house mate, I’m scared of dogs, not people”.

He’s got a KRO number plate, the twat.

Boxer dogs do tend to have large balls, I think.
