Just got in from work, why did AY get sent off?

He was wearing a snood

A straight red then?
No it was sort of round and black.

The comments from people who weren't there sum up all the recent posts. Clueless.

We were comfortable winners today, there were inevitable periods of pressure from the opposition but we were the better team and won.

I was there. Most of the people that have knocked the performance weren't within 80 miles.

Drummond  the ground is exactly 76 miles from my house and I think it was very comfortable  watching it via a stream. So you are right about the 80 miles!

Can't think of a defender scoring on his debut before
Stuart Gray played left back every now and then but he was definitely in midfiled on his debut (Bardford away)
Didn't another debutant score that day too?  4-2 wasn't it?

Was Staunton a left-back when he scored against Sheff Wednesday?

I thought Carl Tiler scored on his debut, but looking on the net he got injured on his debut against Everton and was out for ten months. He scored in his comeback game.

Well, I can't say I was looking forward to my trip to Sheffield: we're crap at the moment, for one and the Woodhead Pass is a bugger in winter, but I've come back happier and safely.

Though we played reasonably well, albeit against a team that are, manifestly, even worse than us , and fully deserved the win.

Good goal from Walker, linked up well with Albrighton.

Still looked shaky at times defensively, but don't think it was a penalty. Need to look at it again on TV later.

Ashley has developed into a petulant under-achiever. Today summed him up.

Just got back from another poor and disjointed performance. Witnessed another 3 schoolboy defending errors and were we playing a better team they would have scored. Gabby and Young just arnt at the races and looked completely disinterested.

Great to see a proper right back who plyed very well and was the biggest positive. Also Bannan and Albrighton played well in patches and were our better players.

Our third goal was the best i have seen from villa for quite a while.

Maybe better times ahead.

.

As an aside, before the game I was chatting to a personal friend of one of the senior players (who had acquired tickets for him). Names witheld to protect the identity but let's just say he had a non-English accent.  He confirmed in no uncertain terms that a number of the senior players are not at all happy with Houllier and his methods, and many aren't happy with the training regime.  I pointed out that if I was a professional footballer on £50-60,000 a week it shouldn't matter who the manager was and I would expect them to follow the regime of whoever the manager was.  Appears certain though that, as we already know really, a number of players will be shown the door.

Hmmm. Hardly news i guess but still disappointing we seem to have so many trouble makers at the club

Mac, I think Andy Gray made his debut but don't think he scored.

Zat Knight scored on his debut didn't he?

Good win away from home against a poor side that was always a potential banana skin.
decent performance from walker on his debut and also some great goals.
One thing puzzling me is why the Fuck didn't houllier take off young after his booking when were cruising comfortably at 2-0 and were playing blues next week!.
seemed obvious to everyone but.....

Very good point.
