Difficult one to judge tactically. Sunderland this season remind me of us during MON's second season - exciting, but given the chance to be because teams would attack and leave themselves open to the counter. When teams sit back against them, they have difficulties in breaking them down, they get a little cross-and-hope. To be honest, we're good on the counter as well, so this is one of those games where the always important first goal could actually help it end up 3-0 to one side or the other.

Houllier keeps banging on about our defence yet we continue to leak goals. Time for him and the team to show us how to keep a clean sheet. 2-0 win but our defence a worry.

For Sunderland I would go.

Gabby was a doubt yesterday, but now he's available.

Friedel
Cuellar Dunne Collins Clark
Albrighton NRC Petrov Downing
Young
Heskey

Cant agree with Cuellar at right back particularly with the emphasis at home to create chances. Did you see his effort of a cross towards the end of the game against Chelsea? Luke Young if fit or Beye/Lichaj to come in and Collins to miss out.

Id like to see Ashley Young return out wide and pair Gabby with Heskey up top and really go at them.

Friedel
L Young, Cuellar, Dunne, Clark
A Young, Reo Coker, Petrov, Downing
Heskey, Gabby

Crowd expected to be 33-34k - not bad
Sunderland are only getting the upper section of the Witton opening up the bottom area for Villa fans
