I heard from a friend earlier today that Ashley wanted to appoint Pardew a while back, had promised the job, and was looking for the slightest excuse to get shot of Hughton.

I've managed to get 7/2, which I reckon is well worth a flutter.

And now in to 5/4.

Wow, didn't see that one coming, I know they haven't won for a few weeks but they have had some great results this season and he has steadied the ship. I guess they like to shoot themselves in the foot up there in the toon!

Wouldn't mind seeing hughton here as our defensive coach - he was a quality coach and nice guy and would be a loss to football- also I feel we need an experienced coach to work with our defence - at Liverpool houllier had thommo, lee and rush working for him whereas we have 2 ex midfielders so would like to see a defensive coach brought in.

Pardew?  :o

It gets worse. For Newcastle, anyway.

Newcastle fan in my office has said they have been waiting to sack him all season so that Mo'N can step in.

I hope it's not MON.  I would be a bit jealous if it was.  I miss being in the top 6 and getting to Wembley.  We are currently 2 points off the drop zone under GH (yeah yeah injuries blah blah).  I think MON, although he has his faults, did well at Villa.  A fact that many seem to have forgotten due to his terribly timed departure.  He would do well up there and no doubt he would get some money to play with.  People are suggesting that MON may take them down.  Really?  Hmmm.  Has he ever been relegated before?  I hope it's Pardew, then they WOULD be in trouble.

Unbelievable.  Feel really sorry for Hughton - he's stepped into the breach a couple of times while they went through previous managers' departures before begrudgingly giving him a 'permanent' contract last year.  Obviously not a big enough 'name' for the arrogant Ashley

Can't see MON taking it - he demands total control of everything and can't see Ashley giving him that level of control, let alone any cash.  If it's Pardew - bye bye NUFC - enjoy the Championship again

O'Neill can only get you to 6th and to Wembley via an easy run of games with shedloads of money so won't suit newcassle at all....

If MON had a problem with some of the 'boo boys' down at the Villa he'll be in for a real shock with the delusional Geordies if he becomes manager there.

Boomakers odds...

Alan Shearer Evens
Supermac 4/1
The late Bobby Robson 7/1
Cheryl Cole 8/1
Spuggy from Byker Grove 10/1
Ant and/or Dec 14/1

I really feel someone should produce a banner to some up their situation but can't think what to write on it.
