Only in this country would Beckham be lauded as a hero footballer for the national team. A very average footballer who if he was ugly wouldn't be half as successful as he is now, he won fuck all whilst playing for England, got sent off in 98 when we would have beat Argentina and lets face it he's as thick as pig shit. He said he was very proud of England's success over the past 20 years, i must have missed those.

The best technical bid for 2018 secured a weighty 2 (two) votes.

One of those was from...erm, England.

Also, apparently the head of the Qatar bid told Al Jazeera (Qatar-based news network) that they were the winners before Sepp had chance to announce it.

Qatar's third largest city has a population roughly the same size as Lichfield.

The only thing that's good about it is it makes Cameron and the tories look like twerps.  No bad thing.

Did Geoff Thompson get a vote?

If so that means we only convinced one delegate to vote for us.

Was diversity part of the technical bids?

Homosexuality in Qatar is punishable by prison and corporal punishment.

No kissing each other during goal celebrations, then.

Probably didn't vote for us as they knew this country would make a balls up of it, let's face it, we've got form.

When 1966? 1996?
Form at fucking everything up.

Talking of 1996, I remember that cringe making opening ceremony.
Two blokes running round the pitch in a pantomine dragon outfit, with somebody dressed as St. George chasing around after him. Ghastly.

so your 'form' for the country f******g up everything, is a pantomime dragon wobbling about in the opening ceromony,
you dont half post some absolute bollox sometimes ace

Beckham fails at another World Cup, how many more is he going to ruin.
That's a bit harsh.

Certainly is, he made a lot of effort.

The real question now is what is the future for football here, given the relationship between us and FIFA.  The recriminations have not yet begun.  Why are we a member of FIFA?  What do we get from it apart from a humiliation now and again?

Aparently we had the best technical bid and the best commercial bid.  What are we expected to do?  Thats probably a stupid question given the obvious answer.

It's interesting how football being unpopular in a bidding country has become a strength. Perhaps rock bands should take the same approach when carrying out stadium tours.

And racism in Russia is as rife and as disgusting as it was in the rest of the world in the 70's.

Because we looked entirely ridiculous going over there fawning over them in a pack of three like we did.  And him especially.  Being an Old Etonian I am sure he enjoyed many a cold day in the playground playing slam with his mates.

Are you sure it's not Martin O'Neills fault LV?  To criticise Beckham after this farce is crazy.  He did a very good job at representing our nation in my opinion, as he always did on the pitch.  I f you want to point the finger at anyone then look further afield.  Start with Trinidad and work your way East.
