I am pleased we were able to get Jim Crowley.   The Crowley/Wigham combination has a very high strike rate

Brian's horse currently at 6-1. It opened at 8/1 (bet365).

I'd say Anything could win it. Looks a poor race. Young Jackie at 20/1 looks good value.

I've had this mad experiment going on for the last 6 months (started during the World Cup) in which with a live match I bet on the time of the first/next goal for either team.

For example on Bet365 they'll offer say 14/1 for either team to score before say 60 minute market when the time is something like 55.12.

Think about it for a second a goal is just as likely to be scored in the 56-60th as between minutes 51-55.

For a glorious two week period late last year I made about 2.5k from quite a few high scoring matches....but equally I've lost a fair bit on a couple of weekends when some of the live games I bet on all magically end 0-0 or 1-0...and I don't cover myself by betting on 0-0 as insurance.

In principle it's a method that should work consistantly but really it's choosing the luck of a game. For example I was cursing watching the Spurs 5-2 Chelsea game at a pub on NYD as a few of those goals were scored towards the end of 10 minute periods. Likewise at the weekend Arsenal scored a couple of goals against us in that time range.

A more simpler method I like to do is always with 10 minutes left bet on the last goal being a free kick or Penalty. That's always around 25/1 or 33/1 for a free kick so worth sticking a fiver on as you never know when one team is losing and are sticking the ball into the box at every opportunity.

Anyone other any wierd/random betting formulas? Like betting on us to win a game for example?!

The best bet I have seen of late is the even money offered for Chelsea to win and us not to score.

Brilliant. Glad to help. Young Jackie finished 3rd so 1/4 of the odds if you backed e/w.

Think Brian's horse came fifth or so

I knew a bloke who monitored the Rangers and Celtic results over a season with a view to backing them every week and staying clear when they played each other. He worked out that betting £500 on Rangers at 2/5 and £400 on Celtic at 1/4 for example would give him a £300 profit. It was the season Rangers pipped MON's Celtic on goal difference on the last day. He would have won a few grand over the course of the season. The following season he backed up his tried and tested theory with cold hard cash. One of them won the league by a distance but the other dropped loads of points which given his relatively small profit margins gave a very different end of season picture. The best laid plans and all that.

To those of you, like me who lost money on Happy Jack, I apologise.   Young Jackie was a good call glasses, well spotted.
For the record Happy Jack came back a very sick horse and we had the vet with him a long time the day after the race.   He has got ulcers in his stomach and for a couple of days we thought he might have to be put down but he is recovering well.   I will keep you posted if he runs again.
