They've absolutely bossed the midfield for the majority.....and we are being pushed further and further back as a result. We just can't get Young or Downing in the game...really need to start winning the seconds and keeping the ball....

Why isnt this live on radio 5?
I was wondering this. Don't think the NE derby's on either. I'm sure they'll manage to fit in the Bolton game later.

I'm enjoying the Swedish Chef commentating on East17's link though
live on Talksport ...... 5live have got Bolton v Liverpool at 4 o'clock.

Clarke had lots of space in first 15 min and was dictating lots of the play. they closed that down and we've been on the backfoot since.

Today is the best chance the Shite have had in a long time to beat us. Poorest Villa team I've seen in some time. Not Houlliers fault, that irish bloke that managed before. Who, despite the fact that everybody says how amazing he is as a manager is going to end up at Al-Hilal.....

That Irish bloke never lost a derby and won the last six on the trot including the 5-1. Show some fucking respect

Like he did walking out 3 days before the season started? Stop talking like a cu**.

Ireland should definitely be coming on, we need a spark and 3 players playing defensive midfield is unnecessary and inviting pressure.

Afternoon. Been on the phone to my ISP for nigh on an hour as my phone, TV and internet was down. It was probably a better way of passing the time than the first half at VP by the sound of things.

That Irish bloke fucked off five days before the season started, I'll show him just as much respect as he showed us if that's okay with you.

Where's this top squad that O'Neill left behind I wonder, not out on the pitch today.
Houllier needs to get a grip, they look out of ideas, have no motivation and little desire to do more than is necessary.
Blues look the better side and that's a disgrace. Houllier knows all about Derby home ties, playing an untried kid in midfield is absolutely no answer to anything even with the injuries to several players as an excuse. Its the sort of crazy measure a manager looking relegation in the face not one looking to win games to climb back into midtable comes up with, especially in a home game its daft.

We have got to get Downing off the right. Absolutely no understanding between Luke Young and himself. Countless times they have lost the ball between them. None of our midfield three want the ball and Heskey has been hopeless. yes I know he has little support but he has been caught stupidly offside on a few occasions and had a decent chance from Young's throughball. Stupid booking from Warnock before the break, Bham look decent down the right where Steven Carr has been excellent and Larsson when given space has a great delivery. Zigic is worse than useless though.

We need to think about changing things but have little options. Could maybe try Downing on the left of the three and replace Clark but no guarantee Ireland will improve things on the right either. McLeish has played it well imo, he knows without Gabby that his centre halves can push up to the half way line. Barry Ferguson is the one midfielder with a semblance of composure and has picked up anything loose.

First thirty minutes we've been just slightly on top but the following 15, the Rags have had the best of it. The are very well organised and prepared to throw players forward when on the attack. We aren't and are sitting far too deep. It's as if we're scared of losing whilst they've come for the 3 points.

We need to be a little bit more adventurous. Downing needs to push up 15 yards, he's too far back to make use of the ball.
