I know he's not on loan any more but it looks like Forrester is going at the end of the season. He's in talks with Barnsley apparently.

regarding delfouneso, i dont think the loan has done him any favours, although playing out of position on the wing may help his overall game in the centre, but on the whole, chatting to burnley fans whose opinions i trust, they think he has bas of ability, but they dont think he is a winger (neither do i), and they dont think he is suited to long ball tactics (neither do i)...

At a risk of taking this wildly off topic this is why the club needs some stability from the managerial perspective. Ideally we'd be able to send our players to a select number of clubs who we know play football in a similar way.

I'd suggest this is where a dreaded Director of Football (mr Houllier?) could help. He'd dictate our football philosophy and align suitable feeder clubs. Then when our manager/head coach leaves every three years there would be some continuity.

And our chief exec can't perform a similar role?  An approach to become a 'feeder club' would have to come from upstairs anyway.  We spend enough on wages without stretching our managerial budget with another big wage.

regarding who we send our players to, i agree that we need to send them to clubs that play a specific way... i think that was the intention with burnley, as they have played the game on the deck, etc, but since they got involved in the pressure cooker of the playoffs, their manager, who in fairness is still learning the ropes himself, has reverted to hoofing it...

it is something that a select few burnley fans i have been speaking to are really annoyed about, and they are the ones that have said that they can see, like we did, glimpses of delfouneso's ability, however with the tactics and where he is being asked to play, it certainly isnt helping delfouneso's game...

although, we could look at it another way, he is learning other elements of the game that he wouldnt necessarily have appreciated, and hopefully, when he does go back to his correct position and the ball is played along the deck, he could have learned to adapt his movement to help the winger, or when the ball is flicked on from a high ball...

its all adding to his education at the moment, and i personally, still think there is a potentially top quality classic number 10 striker in him...

Probably sick of Grayson keeping him on the bench while Leeds pick up the grand total of 1 point from 6.

They've only scored 2 goals in their last 3 games and both were set up by Bannan.

If they're not going to use him, take him back.

Yep.

An element of this might be that McAllister is a big Bannan fan.

From Birmingham Mail
Quote
LOANED OUT Nathan Delfouneso has received a rave review from temporary boss Eddie Howe, despite scoring just once since moving to Burnley.

The Birmingham-born Aston Villa striker scored after just five minutes in his first game for Burnley - a 1-0 win over Hull - but has not netted since.

But that hasn't stopped Howe being full of praise for the 20-year-old.

He said: “I don’t think we’ve quite got the best out of him.

“Some players take longer to adjust when coming in than others.

“He’s had to get used to how we play and we’ve had to get used to the runs that he makes.

“There are signs that we’re beginning to get an understanding with him.

“He’s a fantastic lad with a great attitude and wants to do well.

“He’s an excellent player and has real potential. Hopefully with the remaining games it will click into gear.

“He can do a little bit of everything. He’s technically very good, he can receive the ball to his feet. He can also run in behind, he’s athletic and quick. But developing an understanding with the players around him is sometimes difficult and it takes time.”

I can't believe we've got Ireland back already.  And the bastard's still crocked!
