regarding delfouneso, i dont think the loan has done him any favours, although playing out of position on the wing may help his overall game in the centre, but on the whole, chatting to burnley fans whose opinions i trust, they think he has bas of ability, but they dont think he is a winger (neither do i), and they dont think he is suited to long ball tactics (neither do i)...

Ideally we'd be able to send our players to a select number of clubs who we know play football in a similar way. I'd suggest this is where a dreaded Director of Football (mr Houllier?) could help. He'd dictate our football philosophy and align suitable feeder clubs. Then when our manager/head coach leaves every three years there would be some continuity.
We've recalled Bannan from Leeds.
LOANED OUT Nathan Delfouneso has received a rave review from temporary boss Eddie Howe, despite scoring just once since moving to Burnley. The Birmingham-born Aston Villa striker scored after just five minutes in his first game for Burnley - a 1-0 win over Hull - but has not netted since. But that hasn't stopped Howe being full of praise for the 20-year-old.He said: “I don’t think we’ve quite got the best out of him.“Some players take longer to adjust when coming in than others.“He’s had to get used to how we play and we’ve had to get used to the runs that he makes.“There are signs that we’re beginning to get an understanding with him.“He’s a fantastic lad with a great attitude and wants to do well.“He’s an excellent player and has real potential. Hopefully with the remaining games it will click into gear.“He can do a little bit of everything. He’s technically very good, he can receive the ball to his feet. He can also run in behind, he’s athletic and quick. But developing an understanding with the players around him is sometimes difficult and it takes time.”Read More http://www.birminghammail.net/birmingham-sport/aston-villa-fc/aston-villa-news/2011/04/28/aston-villa-s-nathan-delfouneso-wins-rave-reviews-from-loan-side-burnley-97319-28601476/#ixzz1Ku7OpIqR
