There are several younger players who have stepped up and can justify their place in the squad and have proven they are up to it, therefore although some older players may have gone the emergence of Clark, fonz, bannan, hogg, baker, means we still have a strong squad , we have just pruned out the deadwood.

Read an article about Shankly once where he said "the best time to get rid of a player is when he has 1 good season left in him.  That way you get top money for him before the decline starts.  The manner whether the manager can judge when that day is defines whether the manager is good at that part of his job."

Maybe GH sees one last season in Petrov and feels it is best to get some decent money in this summer before the legs go completely.

So what are all the first team ins and outs so far

Ins

Bent
Makoun
Walker
(Bradley?)

Out

Sidwell
Davies
Carew
(Ireland)

Those 4 cost us almost 30mil is transfer fees alone (if you count Baros at about 6mil).    What have we got back about 4 mil?

I can not see us getting more than 3 mil for Petrov, so I don't really see the point in selling him.

Can they afford his £60,000 wages or will be topping up.Paying someone £20,000 to do nothing is better than paying £60,000 I suppose

hmmm. i don't think the chants of 'you're getting sacked in the morning' during the Sunderland game were anything to be proud of. Very embarrassing, if anything.

GH had, at thet point,  taken one of the highest paid squads in Europe into the relegation places, I'd be more worried if people thought that was acceptable.

Singing that was absolutely disgraceful.
Were you at the game ????
The last 30 mins was a complete shambles.......the manager did nothing he made no subs, tactical changes and it ended up with Barry and Ashley hoofing/lobbing the ball forwards from the half way line towards James Collins
The crowd reaction seems to have galvanised him and Randy

I was. And I told everyone around me singing it what wankers I thought they were.

He'd been in the job 5 minutes and we had a terrible run of injuries. It was embarrassing.

I imagine we're waiting to see what club MON goes to next. I bet the finance department's eyes lit up when it was rumoured he was going to Wet Spam, that would have been a shoe-in £5m heading our way!

Only just realised that Bradley is son of Bob Bradley.

He who many thought would be our Manager after MON did a runner.

RE. Ireland - I bet he comes back to haunt us if he goes now.
