Interesting conundrum. Should someone come in on Monday for Young, what is the minimum you would sell for. I think it is clear he is likely to leave this summer anyway, and could be argued that he needs a move to stop stagnating. I would take anything above 20 million this window I think. From Liverpool I would take 19.75 and Babbel though, as you could still sell Babbel for 6 million in the summer and he would give a forward in return that has got potential.

Hasn't Babel signed for Hoffenheim?

If we were to sell Young I think we'd be looking for £18M in January.  I don't want to sell him, but if a bid comes in and he wants to go, so be it.

Young has just said in the Telegraph what a boost Bent has been to the dressing room.He wouldn't be talking like this if he was going.Liverpool are 7th so what? They've beaten Wolves and Fulham at home recently, hardly great benchmarks!

It's too late in the window and I would not sell him now- I'd wait and see what happens between now and summer as we still have much to play for- and it would be too late to sign a replacement now.

I think in a years time Gary Gardner will very much be a big player in our team and if Bradley comes in and succeeds I wouldn't bother with Adam.

In  the summer keeper and left back will be priorities , and we need to see whether Bradley, ash and walker are here next season or not- if not they will need replacing but I'd like to see all 3 still here.
Same.

We've got so many quality options in our midfield and attack... Houllier will have a pleasant decision to make on team selections whereas with O'Neill we didn't really have any man-for-man quality back-ups - now we've got quality in depth. Makoun, Delph, Coker, Bradley, Petrov, Bannan... so many great options to choose from now; likewise up front.

Makoun... untried. Delph... will he ever be the player we hoped he would be..? Coker... nuff said. Bradley... unconfirned/untried. Petrov... crocked... Bannan... jury out.  Just a thought.

Don't be too negative lol.

It's a lot better than having Osbourne and Salifou as back ups.

Or: Makoun: Proven International with Champions league experience, Delph:  Wait to see him play before losing all faith,  Reo Coker:  Never lets us down, Bradley: Proven international with experience in solid league, Petrov:  fair enough,  Bannan:  Highly intelligent young player who has made massive strides.

My glass is most definitly half full at the moment. (until we get drubbed on tuesday  ;))

The bin dippers still talk as if they are a top four team when the table clearly indicates they are not, i would wager serious money that we finish above them at the end of the season. Maybe if United came in with an offer he could be tempted. The Adam saga signals that for most clubs paying well over the odds is a thing of the past, same with wages, NRC should have a rethink because only mid table sides and lower will be interested in him and they will not be offering big wages. The players Houllier has bought in signals an intent and through this we may see top players wanting to come to us.

Agree with this, for all the "King Kenny" headlines,if he was that good he would have got the job above Hodgson last summer.Suarez good signing, but can he handle being wound up with his hot temper?

I like the sound of Bradley, so it is great that the Villa are still looking for additions so late in the window especially when I thought we were done and dusted. He seems like another alternative to Adam and by using another loan we are in a win/win situation.

On a related note, I was really impressed with NRC today as he broke down the blackburn midfield with loads of tackles and he seemed to be in the right place at the right time, fair play to him for sticking with it and for GH for playing him after he was left out under MoN.

NRC would be very lucky to get £40 grand a week seeing as he is so limited in ability(and to say he could get that is a daming indictment of players wages these days)
He'll have no problem getting that at all in the current climate.

Let's say that he would ordinarily warrant a transfer free of £4m and he wants a four year contract. Total cost £8,320,000.

That club could spend that money on Nige. Or they could spend £4m on a similar player and then pay him say, £30,000 per week. Total cost, £10,240,000.

When you think that the likes of O'Shea, Ferreira, Carrick and Vieira are on £80,000+ per week there is no reason for a top club to pay Reo-Coker £40,000 to be a reserve. He's not spectacular, but neither are the overpaid players that he'd be joining in a bigger club's reserves. Or a smaller club's first team.

I would like him to stay Dave, especially given the new fangled rotation policy we have adopted with a view to having players fresh during matches. He is also a good leader.
