If celtic are that keen on ireland lets offer him on loan as prt of a deal for their left back, the figure of £2.5m for davies was widely reported last week , id be very surprised if blues paid £3.5m.

Celtic haven't got a pot to piss in, so I doubt they could even afford his wages, I don't think they contributed anything towards Bellamy's when he was there.

Celtic have just signed kris commons today having gazumped rangers and offered him better terms, I'm sure we could come to a deal with them for Ireland if the left back is part of it- I hear capello is singing the praises of Kyle walker and looks set to include him for englands next game , that will put another few million on harrys asking price if he does decide to sell.

Seems as though Barry will lose out as capello says he sees wilshire as the holding player for the future and will play him there in the next game .

For myself, I'd prefer Larsson to nothing but I'd rather buy a better player in the summer than have Larsson on the payroll for 3 or 4 years, doing very little.
But of course, if he comes I will support him 100% and he's not without his plus points.

That's fair enough - if Houllier's not convinced then we shouldn't go for it. I think he's a decent player but we can certainly sign better in the summer and there's no urgency for someone in that position.

For certain, even if we initially didn't use him as first choice, assuming Brad Snr wants to carry on next season.

Really can't see the attraction in Larsson. I don't think he'd improve us in any shape or form. I certainly can't see any sane reason for wasting around £2m to get him in this window. There are plenty better players, who will be free this summer, who I'd much prefer. Piotr Trochowski from Hamburg, is a free agent in the summer. Ivan Rakitic also, although it looks like he's going to Seville. Also with these players from abroad we can talk to them now and offer them a deal for the summer, or I'd rather spend some of the Davies money on someone like Trochowski, who's got 30 odd caps for Germany and has played at the World Cup.

Scanning through all the media, it seems that if we take straight cash for Davies it's £3.5m.
If we take Larsson it's £1.5m

Therefore valuing Larsson at £2m.

I think they wanted to get rid, that's why they signed Bentley, but the cup final probably makes a difference to club and player.

Not too fussed about Larsson or any more signings this window, unless they're truely top notch.  We've had a good January and easily have enough to survive now, if not finish top half, so they should keep their powder dry and wait for the quality in the summer.
