I agree Kevin, I think he will turn it down in the same way he did Newcastle to keep open his options till the summer.

Apparently it was Blose that pulled the plug on that deal. I thought it was to do with personal terms but the Mail reckon Blose changed their mind.

Still can't see it happening Maz. He will getter better money waiting till the summer, and will have a fight on to get in the team. Fair play to the lad if he is up for the fight to do so though, and squad wise I think he would be a good addition. Look at the way Houllier is rotating and has publicly stated he will keep doing so. It means you need good players to make up that squad. Would not be shocked to see him come and play more centrally either, if he does sign.

According to a few folks behind the scenes, its Blose trying to push this, not us. Houllier isnt sure if Larsson would be any good to us and Blose are trying to save money by offering a player they know is off in the summer anyway. Also, Davies would prefer to go to Leicester but we'd prefer a permanent deal for him rather than a loan.

Not sure how accurate all that is but it makes sense to me.

For myself, I'd prefer Larsson to nothing but I'd rather buy a better player in the summer than have Larsson on the payroll for 3 or 4 years, doing very little.
But of course, if he comes I will support him 100% and he's not without his plus points.

You're my favourite, Mazrim.

Equal parts passion and reason, you always end up talking sense in the end (and usually before the end).

I'm not taking the piss, by the way. But if you don't finger me then I'll edit my post and tell Everall you're a crap cuddle.

Very nice lads, Try a dating site.

Emillio Lzaguirre of Celtic, has apparently been watched by Villa scouts and is a promising attacking left back .......

He's very good.

I'd have liked us to sign him in the summer when they got him for a few hundred grand mind.

I can see why Houllier would be tempted to buy Larrson

- first off hes on minimal wages and the cost is barely anything
- he's a hardworking player and not someone whos disruptive
- versatile
- we've been playing all of Albrighton, Downing and Young. They will get tired during games, especially Albrighton whos looked fatigues at times.  We need a bench thats able to compete, at the moment we have Robert Pires as our attacking midfield option if we don't want to reshuffle our formation.

It's a low risk, low cost, decent squad option

He may not be the signing everyones crying out for, but I don't see why anyone would rather us not sign him when squads are so important these days and theres such a low risk.

Edit: plus I hate Larrson when we play Blues, which is usually a compliment

So what you are saying is that he is a typical MoN signing?

£1.75m for a player yet to reach his prime and cost us nearly 5 times that amount seems a bit galling but then he'll be on decent wages and no doubt Randy is pushing for GHou to get rid of high-earning, low-contributing players. That old chestnut that did for O'Neill.

Be interesting to know what the £750k add-ons are made up of - staying up this season 250k, 50 league appearances 250k, and another 250k if he gets to 100 maybe?
And no doubt none of the papers reporting us as having spent £24m on Bent will say we've sold Davies for £3m.

If it happens I wish Curtis well, if not his club. There's definitely talent there as shown during his partnership with Laursen in 2008. He's athletic, tall, a decent tackler and header of the ball, there's no reason why he can't ressurect his career. Always came across well on interviews aswell I thought.

With any luck we'll have been clever enough to put a sell on clause into the deal too.

Looks like he won't be coming anyway.
Cue lots of volte faces
'Ah, he was shit anyway.'

Meanwhile, Birmingham are making a £2.5m bid for Aston Villa central defender Curtis Davies after ruling out offloading winger Sebastian Larsson in a player-plus cash swap deal.

The important thing is to forget how much we paid for Curtis, we were ripped off, he should have been half of his inflated price tag.

As for Larsson, well, he's shit anyway, isn't he?

If celtic are that keen on ireland lets offer him on loan as prt of a deal for their left back, the figure of £2.5m for davies was widely reported last week , id be very surprised if blues paid £3.5m.
