According to SSN the hitch is to do with the structure of the installments, it would be gutting for it to collapse over something like that.

Can't see it breaking down over that.
I'm sure they'll come to some arrangement.
Especially if the clay model from Lionel Ritchie's 'Hello' video has got his eye on somebody who he wants to spend the money on.

Yeah hope they get this sorted. It must be close though as they've said bent is in the area staying at a local hotel waiting for the green light to start the medical and negotiations.

Terms will already have been discussed with his agent...he wouldn't be here otherwise.

Just hope no one tries to hijack the deal now they know he's available.

If we get him, I think Bent could be the league's top scorer next year. Apart from the fact that a lot of the PL's major stars are on the wane (see Drogba for details), I don't think Bent has ever had the kind of service that he can possibly expect at Villa. For people saying that he is overpriced and poo-poohing his overall game, what they should remember is that we're buying four maybe five years of a player who is gauranteed to convert a considerably higher proportion of his chances than any of our current players. At £5-6M per year that seems not too bad to me. There's no reason why he can't approach the 20 goal a season mark every year of his contract. We have not had such a player throughout the Premier league years (even Yorke didn't manage it in the league alone). If you add in the endeaver we can expect from our midfield players (and even the enticing possibility that Ireland might actually come good - maybe I'm stretching the bounds of possibility here, but it's not impossible!!) along with shoring up a defense that was one of the best around last year, then this is a very good recipe for success imho. I'm quite excited about this...

Brilliant news, Spurs have agreed fee for Pienaar.

This means Ash wont go to spurs, so much chance he will sign a new deal.

Unless he goes to Chelsea, who have also had a fee agreed.

That so-called MysteryMan over on VT (who, to be fair, has a good track record with these things - he called the Bent bid just before DW on here)
has said something along the lines of implying we will make more than one signing this week.....

Friedel
Walker - Collins - Dunne - Figueroa
Albrighton - Makoun - Adam - Downing
Young - Bent

Looks nice to me...

With Davies, Warnock, Sidwell and Carew leaving

And then in the Summer let Friedel, Dunne, Beye and Luke go. And if Ash signs a new deal let Downing go if the right offer comes in? If not keep Downing and sell Ashley.

If/When we get Bent, surely that will be it.

Don't think so.
