So did Pelty reveal the player he was keeping wraps is Darren Bent?

Would be brilliant if we could sign Bent after stupidly missing out on him because of O'Twat. Can't see why Sunderland would sell their best striker who scores loads to a team that's near the bottom.

If we could sign Bent I'd be over the moon.

IF Bent has asked for a transfer, or indicated a deesire to move, then this could be a possibility.

IF GH feels that he can get more goals for the team, then sometimes you need to sacrifice players you don't want to lose.Ireland , for whatever reason, does'nt look as if he is going to do it at VP, but he's young enough, with enough talent to tempt other managers to take a chance on him.Downing, for me flatters to deceive,Did nothing against Spuds or Arse for me, and today did'nt have the desire for the fight. Is he going to get better.........not sure he is.

If we need these 2 players to go for Bent, then quite frankly i would do it.

I remember Roy Keane saying that it was really difficult getting players to sign for him when he was in charge there, as most of them weren't keen on the area of Sunderland itself. Perhaps Bent has had enough. It might make sense as he did go through a bit of a non-scoring run recently, I think the fans wanted Gyan playing instead of him anyway.

I used to work in Sunderland and let me tell you, it's a fcuking toilet.  Let's hope our Darren sees it the same way.

Bit harsh there, I've spent some good times in Sunderland and roker beach in summer can be really nice - the north east is a lovely place , no longer all collierys and dust.

Hopefully though , he would look favourably on a move to villa.

Inter Milan / QPR / Blose / Any Turkish club..........I dunno. I spose I meant that if Sunderland were thinking of letting him go, there would be a lot of interest.

I'd let Downing go to get Bent.  Although improved on last year, he's very replaceable.

Yes, I agree. I also think that since Christmas, Downing has reverted to last season's form after having improved up until then

He just isn't visible enough for me and doesn't take sufficient responsibility as one of the more senior players

I realise people will disagree, but I am pretty ambivalent about Downing

I find it hard, nigh on impossible to believe that Sunderland would sell us Bent.

I find it easier to believe that he'd want to come, however. Sunderland really is a footballing irrelevance.

I agree with your second point but I will counter that for quite a few weeks GH seems to play him anywhere but the left hand side where he had such a decent start to the season.

That will never happen.

2 months of Henry.... hmmm would be great to watch if he was even half the player he once was.

Doubtless you'll be reminded about that charming choice of words next time you complain about 'personal insults'.
