All hypothetical off course, but Sunderland considering selling Bent, in my opinion would be like Spurs selling Berbatov. Spurs were able to use the money very well in improving themselves considerably. Maybe Sunderland are looking at things in a similar way.

Every player has a price and if it makes sense, then Sunderland will sell him. Bruce has been well backed up there so this wouldn't neccessarily be cost cutting. I'm sure he'd get most if not all of the money to invest in other areas.

As it stands, Ireland for Bent would make superb business for us.

I just think a 25 goal striker who is 26 years of old would be better for us  , then a Downing and Ireland... I think Downing is a good squad player but there isnt many 25 goal scorers about is there, and we need one..

I would easily wear that. Ireland has done nothing for 2 years to suggest he's more than a £3-4 m player. With a shitty attitude to boot.

I would sacrifice Downing for Bent and then Let Houlier pick up a gem from abroad to replace him..  There is not many players who can score 25 goals in a season  and Bent is one of them , especially in our team..

I'd let Downing go to get Bent.  Although improved on last year, he's very replaceable.

If we were to get Bent I would rather we got him without letting go one of our best players for passing and crossing- keep Stew, although I would be happy to let them have Ireland.

Surely we just move Young back out to the left, where he has been at his best?  In other words, Downings replacement is already at the club.  If it got Bent, a higher need at the moment, I would sacrifice Downing. Rather it be Ireland though.
