Bent got to be worth £18m in the current climate. Ireland and Carew + £8m would not be bad. I always liked him before he went to Sunderland, and he's been fantastic for them.

Darren Bent? How? Why? I'd love him at Villa but can't see it, it doesn't make any sense as to why they'd sell him and why he'd come here.

Bent would be massive for us. About as good as we can realistically get right now. I'd be loathe to lose a good player in return but there arent many players I wouldn't consider as worth losing in order to land him.
If we lose Downing, sign N'Zogbia or somebody like that, to compete with Young of course.

The right is sorted. Walker (I think we'll get him permanently) and Albrighton are going to hurt teams in the future, I'm sure.
Our left back position is a priority issue too. Clark will do a solid job but his future is as a versatile centre half.

So Downing and Ireland to land Darren Bent? Something like that?

I wonder if maybe there is a bid in for ash and perhaps we are looking to sign before we sell him? I would sacrifice downing and Ireland and beye for bent as bruce has been linked with all 3 in the last year, he might still want cash plus those 3 though!

Sunderland have ample quality up front and Gyan and walbeck are on form, if there's a deal on let's do it, a prolific goalscorer like bent would make a huge difference.

I would probably sacrifice Young for Bent as long as we were not out of pocket, because i think Young will go in the next year anyway, and we have Downing and Albrighton. I would sacrifice Downing and maybe £4m for Bent if Young signs a new long term contract.

If we weren't about to possibly lose Young I would have agreed but we could be losing both our experienced left sided wingers in the next 5 months. It's not hard to see that Downing has had his best games for us playing on the left wing. Weirdly GH seems to play him anywhere but there.
