Don't know that much about goodwillie, what's your opinion on him as a player sandman and what sort of fee would he be?

I'd love us to sign Bent, Sunderland really wouldn't want to sell him though. Also, would he come here while we're struggling and they're in the top 8?

Fist face loves Ireland... Maybe money and a swap?

From what I know of the Bent to Spurs deal it was 10m uptop with another 6m on appearances. Now its hard to believe that the 6m wouldn't have been staggered, but maybe now they have Gyan they might be up for letting Bent go before he activates the clause?

Bent would be the signing MON should have made when we bought Heskey. Again that summer. If there is a sniff of getting him now the club should move all wind and fire to do so, he is as consistent a scorer as you can get outside the top 4, and would be a brilliant signing. Add him to Makoun, and get Walker for keeps, the team for next season would be starting to take an exciting shape IMO.

Still don't think Sunderland will sell though.

They might Ozz if they thought that having 4 solid forwards was too many and needed help somewhere else. It also depends on Bent. Maybe being that far north is getting to him and he's requested a move if the deal was right. I don't think he's the type to cause a fuss because he wanted to go there and Bruce has probably been good to him. But if he can get a move further south, a good deal for all parties concerned, I think they'd look at it given that they have 3 other good forwards on their books.

Decent striker with a load of goals in the SPL last few seasons. Youngish at 21/22 and strikes me as better than Steven Fletcher at that age. He'd be gettable for £1-1.5million. Would be a good back up option behind Bent (if it happens) and Gabby. Not sure how he would compare with Weimann and Delfouneso ability wise.

His problem is a fondness for trendy nightspots and the odd brawl.

they have gyan welbeck with an option to buy, campbell and bent. if they sell bent it will be for a profit im 99% sure of that and they might lend one of our lot or maybe take carew. they love a big man at sunderland it'll be little and large again up top. also bent will probably be on more a week than carew so wages wont be an issue

Can people really see Sunderland letting Bent go?
No.
Why would they sell him anyway?
Just can't see it.

Bent would certainly be in the Collymore/ Merson league of signings in my book.

How much do we reckon though, straight cash - 15?

Agreed. Not a world beater, but more than good enough for this level and in European competition. He wouldn't be cheap if we are inquiring about him directly as he still have two and a half years left on a deal he signed in 2009. However, if it's something that's been suggested by Bent in conjunction with a need Sunderland might have which we could help them with, cash plus player would be a good all round compromise.

We've enquired about him, so I've been told. Nothing more than that at the moment.

I think Sunderland would be quite keen to sell Bent. Cygan has come in and done well which has meant Bruce has had to change his prefered formation to accommodate both bent and cyan. As a result their midfield is lacking creativity with Malbranque being dropped and henderson shunted out wide.

It's well known that Bent, whilst a good goal scorer does not provide much else to the team.

Personally I'd be gutted if we spent £15+ million on bent. As others have said we missed our chance when he left Spurs, now we'd be paying top dollar for a player that will not get any better.

Sounds like when Ellis used to say
'We've bid for so-and-so' knowing full well that the players and club won't say yes, but just trying to demonstrate that he was trying.

Utterly pointless.
