Manchester City will allow Shay Given to leave Eastlands, but only if they can find a replacement.

Swap for Brad Freidel I say

Sounds like a plan! Shay has at least four good years in him I reckon and is a top class 'keeper.

That is an excellent solution for all 4 parties here. Shay plays regular first team for Villa. Brad  provides safe cover  to City for Hart.

I don't think Brad will see it like that aftab. I reckon if he's not going to be first choice he'd jack it in.

I reckon if he had a spell on the bench he would seize up !!

Seriously I think he holds his record consecutive appearances pretty high and wouldn't give this up easily

I agree.

Hasn't he played several hundred consecutive PL matches?

I'd be a bit surprised if we bought in a new 'keeper during this window, to be honest, even though I do think that Friedel's best days are behind him. Not replacing him would be far from a disaster, especially if it meant using the money to bring in a striker, say.

That said, he is a bit crap at saving penalties.

If Martin was still here our window wouldn't open for anothe 10 days.

And when it opens it will look into a small yard with 10 feet  brick wall border.

I wouldn't be surprised if he bids for Stan.

Even Houllier pointed out "he feels sorry" for Brad that there is speculation about other keepers. When he has been excellent for Villa. No way will he be second choice for us or another club and i do not blame him. He is still perfoming at the highest level.

Yes I agree that is the emotional side for him however  a more pragmatic approach may lead  him to see out his career a little easier  on the bench at City helped by another 1m  in his pay packet and  the odd chance of playing a CL game or two  next season.

I'd be surprised if we sold our captain.

No, I was not referring to Makoun. Still some work to be done to finish the deal, so I should have been more cautious. Still, if it comes off, I think most would agree that it is a good signing in a position of need.

Think Robbie Keane will stall with the scum now and jump in with MON. He has already said he does not want to move house ............. One thing is for sure MON will not be bidding for Reo Coker ...
