I thought the club confirmed the Rodallega and Figueroa links were bogus?

Yeah me too. But I'm not complaining. Chuffed to bits with all the links so far. Let's hope we can bag a couple more of them.

His record speaks for itself. no major buys from abroad. only 3 in total, 1 of which was swap approach from another club. still if you think MON would have been abroad searching for strikers this transfer window fair enough

No, I never said that.  What I said was I disagree with the notion it was predictable who, admittedly 99% of the time would be from Britain, he'd go for just because some posters would say after it happened "I knew he'd do that."  To which you retorted by the example of a player we didn't actually sign.

you're missing the point john. Once he's decided to go british only, there's only 3 or 4 players it could be. The rest are too expensive, won't join us or are too shit. that was why he was so predictable

I'm not missing, I just don't agree with it.

well try it yourself. name 10 strikers we could sign from the premiership who would be better than we have? I reckon you'll get 3 or 4.

Better than Heskey, Carew and Gabby?  Or at least capable of competing with them for a starting birth?

Keane
Bendtner
Owen
Rodallega
Cole
RSC
Kalinic

And I'd add a few more based upon the 6th place we were under MON as opposed to where we are now.

But predicting his signings is NOT coming up with a list of potential targets.  It's knowing WHO he would go for.  Now, I'm not saying that that means he was right to shop almost exclusively at home, but just that this whole 'predictable' thing is ridiculous when no one could or did actually say "MON will sign player X", but rather react to what he did do.  A prediction comes before, not after, and is more precise than listing possibilities.

well ignoring that some of them would maybe be out of our price range and remember how MON liked to play. Now tell me who would be up the top of your list as someone MON would go for?

Apparently there was a French Football Journo on Talksport today talking about Lord Frodsham not being paid by Panathinaikos for 4 months and scoring every week in greece, but having been for talks in the last week with Sunderland. If the price is right he would do as a forward, scores goals. But interesting if it is true that he had been for talks with Sunderland.

I see, so you're saying now that they would also have to be in line with our style and the the type of striker he liked?  So from the pattern of John Carew, Marlon Heskey and then Emile Heskey you got to............................Robbie Keane?

This thread is making less and less sense to me. When greg starts speaking in riddles I know it's time to put the toys back in the box

Yep. Looks to me like the bid's good for the club and the players happy to talk. But the managers frustrated because the club can't match his ambition (demanding a high price/refusing to let him go).

That quote is massively disrespectful and just shows what a hypocrite he is. Although it looks like it's more aimed at Liverpool to me...
