His record speaks for itself. no major buys from abroad. only 3 in total, 1 of which was swap approach from another club. still if you think MON would have been abroad searching for strikers this transfer window fair enough

Fair's fair, though, what utter fucking mug would swap Carew for Milan Fucking Baros.

mebbe but he's still knocking the goals in unlike carew

Stick Carew in the Turkish league and see what happens.

No, I never said that.  What I said was I disagree with the notion it was predictable who, admittedly 99% of the time would be from Britain, he'd go for just because some posters would say after it happened "I knew he'd do that."  To which you retorted by the example of a player we didn't actually sign.

you're missing the point john. Once he's decided to go british only, there's only 3 or 4 players it could be. The rest are too expensive, won't join us or are too shit. that was why he was so predictable

I cannot understand people who want the club they support to fail.

well try it yourself. name 10 strikers we could sign from the premiership who would be better than we have? I reckon you'll get 3 or 4.

I wonder if he is the same StevenJoes that posts on Twitter - here are a couple of his latests Tweets -

#avfc holloway is right, villa are worse than blackpool... its a fact. enjoy villa sheep. signed.... an ex villa fan

@noel_murphy86 houllier doesnt appreciate women.. he french he only sees his paypacket!

I can't believe the grief @JKCorden is getting. He's funny!! People moaning he will ruin the brits. THE BRITS HAVE BEEN SHIT for years!!!

@MatKendrick Is Gerard saying this though? remember he is french and therefore blind and dumb! "gerard, did you see the game?" "non"

So not only a trolling ex-Villa fan he also thinks James Corden is funny. Say no more.

Aston Villa step up their
chase for Wigan defender Maynor Figueroa

Aston Villa are intensifying their efforts to sign Maynor Figueroa after clearing the way for Stephen Warnock to return to Liverpool on loan.
Warnock has fallen out of favour under Gerard Houllier at Villa Park and is considering an opportunity to solve Liverpool's left-back problem by rejoining them for the rest of the season.

While Houllier also likes Wigan striker Hugo Rodallega, his main target at the DW Stadium is attacking Honduran left back Figueroa.

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez has tried to play down Villa's interest in two of his leading lights but faces an uphill task preventing Figueroa heading for the Midlands later this month.
Houllier, who is close to finalising a £6million deal for Lyon's Jean Makoun, is also lining up Montpellier's Bosnian centre half Emir Spahic.

The 30- year-old was a summer target for Arsenal but could join Villa next week in a £5m deal.
