Lovely isn't he DrGonzo, and lovely that someone is doing it too him.

Villadawg - are you genuinely suggesting our wage level is ok for our turnover?

No its not OK in the long run.

but it isn't our wages that is out of kilter for a club with top 6 ambitions, it is our turnover that is out of kilter.

There is nothing unusual in that situation when a club (business) is investing for growth and our revenue has also been increasing dramatically in recent years.

We were the 25th highest earning club in Europe according to the latest Deloitte football finance report and likely to be in the top 20 for next year.

Makoun to come in but not in time to play Sunday according to Matt Kendrick- source the Villa big-wigs.

Even just signing him should give folk a lift at the club.
Maybe he wants a forklift as his transport but Randy declined...

I know, but we weren't the only club doing it.  Just paying the going rate like everyone else.  You make it sound like MON gave everyone 20k a week extra for a laugh.
If we WERE paying the going rate, then surely there would have been a reasonable re-sale value?

Please can the dance off be saved for a none school night? The Spurs wages debate in it's natural habitat of tight lycra and leg warmers, is simply one not to be missed, not just for the mere fact of needing to get up the next morning anyway.

Please use correct apostrophes - 'its natural habitat ' not 'it's'.

Correct apostrophes would be a first for me!

The same resale value that everyone else in football is having to contend with.  Bridge, Yakubu, Bentley all going on loan because the buying clubs won't pay what the selling clubs want or the wages.  All I'm saying is it's not just us who bought players who couldn't take us that step further but we had to pay those wages at the time.

WE did nodge, but I think the players we bought were particularly average.

While those examples are true, firstly Man City is a complete basket case, and profits / losses on signings don't matter a jot to them. The other two or exceptions rather than the rule. Barring Milner, and to a much lesser extent Knight, what signings during the MON era have come close to either maintaining or increasing their market value? I'm struggling to think of any. Downing, perhaps.

I know what you're saying Ger, it's just the way of the world now and the football world to a degree.  I bet if you went on forums for Everton, Spurs, Liverpool etc they'd be saying the same thing about their squad players.

Young?
Apologies, yeah Young as well. Although even that is dropping by the day!

And I know where you're coming from nodge, and would agree to an extent. It's just that for me it appears to be much more prevalent at the villa than elsewhere (barring city, which is an obvious exception).

EDIT: I've just noticed that this is dangerously close to a reasoned and friendly debate. Therefore I feel that I should add that you smell of wee.

Although there’s more chance of me having a threesome with Rachel Stevens and Keeley Hazell than Villa getting Benzema there was a theory on Revista the other day that Ronaldo could play as the striker to fit the returning Kaka into the team. You would think that they would still keep Benzema as cover and even if they were to let him go out on loan there would be a healthy list of clubs willing to take him but perhaps he would be willing to link up with Houllier again.

It’ll never happen but we can live in hope.
