If we don't sign at least one Pascal or Xavier this January I will feel a little bit cheated.

where are all these Johnny Foreigner types we thought we'd be signing ?

I was thinking the same thing - what would peoples reaction have been if MON had signed Kyle Walker and Charlie Adam?

Houllier has had 10 days of one transfer window to source the best players available.

MON had four years, and bar two, every single one of his signings was already playing in England or Scotland.

The notion that English players are best, or foreign ones are best is flawed - we should be looking as far and wide as we can to find the best players possible in our budget.

Houllier has barely had a chance to start getting players in, so we'll see how that goes, but the myopia of MON's transfer policy is one of the things we're paying for now.

All points I agree with, except the last one, but I do feel there would be pages of anti-MON rhetoric over those two players.  And I think you do too!

As it goes I think Houllier's stratergy, or at least what it seems to be thus far, is right.  Now is not the time to try and bed in a number of overseas players all at once - we can't afford it!  Existing PL players who can come in and hit the ground running is what we need, such as Bridge and Adam.

Had MON signed a couple of UK based players (only one of whom we've actually signed), it would be on the back of four years of buying almost exclusively UK based players.

Houllier has signed one player, who happens to be English, and is the only player he's signed for us.

Oh, except for Pires. Who is French.

Charlie bloody Adam? Dear oh dear. Is that what we've become, battling tinpot outfits like Blues and other relegation fodder for a lard arse from Blackpool? Maybe Houllier is building a team ready for the Championship next season.
Our players would look good and stand out in their team, they're shit journeymen. Stop fannying about with rubbish like Adam and sign us a quality striker because Agbonlahor is a crock of shit.

Sorry I started this now!

My point was that had he signed Walker and Adam, they would be classed, by some, as typical MON-type signings.

He's gone - lets get back to Houllier and our future!!

Midfield needs sorting out as Petrov is getting no younger and NRC isn't a long term answer by any stretch of the imagination.

Adam would be more of a goalscoring threat than Petrov and NRC, if Gabby and Heskey are given the right service, they'll score goals.

Seems to me the tide of goodwill is turning towards houllier and fans are beginning to give him a bit of credit- this pleases me as does the players we are being linked with having made bids for- I feel there may be a real twist in our season yet and hope that good times are around the corner.

A win at blues will give everyone at our club a massive lift so let's hope it's our weekend!

Van fletcher, as regards giving emile the service and he will score goals, I must say last weeks game would suggest otherwise, neither emile or gabby are natural finishers which is something we need to see in out team and I hope a good finisher is going to sign up this month to address that.

Isn't there another local (ish) team that you'd be better of supporting?

Unfortunately, as it stands that is exactly what we have become - a tinpot outfit battling other tinpot outfits for players and Premier League survival.

You can keep your low opinion of the club to yourself, have you been hanging around a load of Dogshitters?
We're Aston Villa and i'll always be proud of them.

From sportinglife.com

Blackpool have rejected bids from Aston Villa and Birmingham for captain Charlie Adam, manager Ian Holloway has confirmed.

The midlands rivals have made offers in the region of £2.5million for the 25-year-old Scotland midfielder.

Holloway has previously said Adam would only leave if one of the Barclays Premier League's biggest clubs come calling - with a sizeable offer - and he insists that position has not changed.

When asked if it was correct the Seasiders had snubbed Villa and Birmingham, Holloway said: "It's true.

"I spoke to Charlie this morning and he knows where I am coming from, and I know where he is coming from.

"The chairman has had a couple of calls and he has told those clubs exactly where we are.

"We have got no reason to sell anyone. We are a well-run club and we want to add in this window, not lose anyone.

"It's not important to keep a player if a player doesn't want to be here - it's important to keep working with him to achieve one of his ultimate goals, which is to play for one of the top four or five, or even six, clubs.

"We have got him for 18 months on his contract and if one of those top clubs I told him this morning come in then I might have to consider it, but they would have to offer the right amount of money for this club to move forward."
