RL is steering our club like a rudderless ship. He will not invest any more money into the club. It's about time he stated his intentions and made a statement to the fans instead of this stupid silence. The club is is a worse position than when Doug was here. SHOW SOME LEADERSHIP AND RESPECT FOR THE FANS FOR ONCE LERNER!

That is, with all due respect, a complete load of Bollocks.

To be honest, no respect is due. That was just worthless melodramatic tripe.

Exactly, time for someone to have their nap, it's all just a bit too exciting for you isn't it?

mmmmmmm did u see Wednesdays game ?? when the manager Randy appointed made no sustitutions for over 87 minutes even though we had played with 10 men for over 30 mins, his tactical masterplan is to play our left winger on the right hand side and one of our centre forwards as a left winger

Yes, I was there. So? Give Houllier all the shit you want, he desreves some of it, but Lerner has been nothing but brilliant for this club and all the slagging off he's getting from some idiots is disgraceful.

I would agree Lerner has done great things probably over 80% positive but you have to agree that Lerner has made some pretty big mistakes, ie not appointing a director of football or put some one experienced in football on the board to keep an eye on MON and his xfer dealings, his handling of MON departure, the subsequent sale of Milner that he agreed too and him taking over 5 weeks to draw up a shortlist of managers that were available

So you think his current transfer policy will realise Champions League football come May 2011? After all, there's supposed to be a 5 year master plan, you know, bright future and all that. The current plan will realise ''Championship'' football come May!

Why are fans so reluctant to criticise Lerner? We're on the slippery slope down to relegation and ultimately the buck stops with him. If this was Ellis he'd have been crucified by now. Especially if he'd bought and sold a player without there being a manager at the club. We haven't signed a player for cash for 17 months. Again, Ellis would be public enemy number one if he had pulled those stunts.
It's about time Lerner got the bit of criticism he deserves.

Have to agree to a certain  extent with this .some people think houllier is to blame for this and randy is blameless- who appointed houllier?

Randy was great for the 1st 4 years but in the last year or so mainly since faulkner arrived i have been worried where we are heading and if randy can afford to give the finance needed to progress - if he cannot it is not his fault but we should be told , and then some fans can lower their expectation levels.

I think the 5 year plan that was never actually stipulated beyond the General has rightly changed due to the landscape of football. We blew our chance to buy our way into the champions league when Martin O'Neill failed to take us there 2 seasons in a row when we ran out of steam spectacularly. That is not the fault of the board. They have seen other clubs get there through spending which we could not possibly sustain without filling 50k stadium and charging double for season tickets. We can't have it both ways. They have appointed a manager they see as capable of overseeing a different strategy, to invest in the young and the player of tomorrow in the main with some more established when required. It is a tested model from Spurs and Arsenal, and if done with any quality will see us being more self sustaining on transfers in and out. The issue is it will take time, and skysports football does not allow time as fans want now, now, now. Sure we are in a bad place in the league, but the approach from the board at how to build towards the champions league had to change. Throwing more money at it was never going to work.

I don't think anyone would say it's going swimmingly. I just don't buy all this talk of relegation. I just don't think it will happen. It's a mess and sorting it out isn't going to be easy. There's no fun to be had at the moment but we need to play a long game if we are going to move forward.

I remember people sitting near me saying similar in 87 when we went down - we are in a real battle to stay up here, theres no getting away from the fact , i hope the players see it different to you.

Everybody makes mistakes. They shouldn't be crucified for them if they've shown nothing but absolute committment to their cause and beyond. Which I believe Lerner has and will continue to do so.
I've seen fans question his loyalty all week, which I think is pretty ordinary to be honest. Dont you think he deserves better?

And now questioning transfer policy. Why not wait and see what we do in this window first, eh?
It's not like he hasn't put his hand in his pocket already.

I don't think anyone can question Randy's loyalty, whatever other criticisms are going round. It is concerning we haven't spent any money on transfers in 18 months, but hopefully by the end of the window that will be sorted.
