depends where the milner fee has gone. in the transfer fund or paying the deadwood's wages

Not forgetting the £3.5 mil SHA paid for that utter tosser.

In theory, using a calculator, belief in what you read in the newspapers and applying the 'spend what you get in via incoming transfer funds' model - we have around £23m to spend plus the Sky money.

Was the FX PRO money £20m over three years ????

i'd be very surprised if we had 23m or so. i'd hope providing we lose a few of the wasters, that there's 15m though. Your guess is as good as mine i guess

Until you factor in the huge losses we'll have made for the last two years, which then calculates to *pretends to tap calculator in a Stuart Baggs style* hardly anything.

In that case Greg that would mean we wouldn't even have the milner money to spend , not including the sky money or sponsonship money - that would make mons leaving much more understandable and in such case the best we could hope for would be survival in this league.

What about the aims for the top 4 we have been told about as being the boards ambition still? It would be pie in the sky with no money -yes Lerner stumped up the cash and we competed for 4 yrs but if he can't stump up the cash we should be told , rather than being fed ambitions we cannot achieve- I hope you are wrong nasher, as we really need to invest big on players this month!

trouble is the accounts don't balance, so unless randy keeps putting his hand in his pocket we haven't got all the milner money to spend. if your trying to run the club as a business then unless your in the cl then you can't sustain our wage bill. 15m would give us the chance to get 2 or 3 quality players in and i'm hoping Randy will think thats a gamble worth taking rather than risk relegation and the 20+m loss that would entail

I'd say we need £20m to get 3 decent players in - makoun at £7m would be one of those and maybe we can offer warnock in part ex for samba or offer davies - to get in a decent striker will not be cheap and we also could do with a keeper so there is much dealing to be done in the next 3 weeks - hopefully we will see a much changed team at blues next weekend.

can't see us getting more than £4 or £5m for Ireland but every little helps!

Hodgson has just been sacked and dalglish in charge so maybe we might see a clearout at anfield !

At this juncture it is more important for Houllier to get two or three players in quickly even if Randy has to pay a million more than he wants. He needs his own men, he has already stated he wants Makoun, get him Randy, if we are to stop the rot money has to be spent. Now is not the time to quibble.

RL is steering our club like a rudderless ship. He will not invest any more money into the club. It's about time he stated his intentions and made a statement to the fans instead of this stupid silence. The club is is a worse position than when Doug was here. SHOW SOME LEADERSHIP AND RESPECT FOR THE FANS FOR ONCE LERNER!

if true, we will know by 31st january, when we see what is spent on players this month- it is sadly beginning to look that way at the moment though.

Lyon are after the best deal for Lyon. They are playing hard to get hoping to flush out interest and start an auction. Makoun supposedly wants to come and play in England, I reckon it will happen fairly quickly once the match is out of the way.

Nowhere has GH said 7 million is too much though, just what they are asking is. If it is 12 and we value him at 7, then it is too much, and you would hope there could be negotiation to sort it somewhere in between.

Agree with the comments re him being the type we need, although once here we need a forward thinking midfielder to go alongside him. More shame that Ireland has never staked a genuine claim to play as an orthodox central midfielder as he has the attribute we need in there.

As said on another thread, we haven't spent any money in a long while now. We need some sign of intent from the club, because at the moment it is a shambles from top to bottom.

I wouldn't wasre your time getting excited about Makoun joining us. The club won't spend any more money - that stopped on 1st September, 2009! Lerner will eventually sell what assets we have a take the money and run! Why do you think MON left??
