Pires not playing because he is shit! In hindsight a mistake taking him on - get rid of the tosser!

I'd be shocked if we do not have £20m to spend this month as that would be the milner money from last year - the least we need is that otherwise the signs would be that randy either cannot or will not back the manager anymore.

If makoun is £7m then get him- relegation would cost us far more than that - pay the cash and get quality players in randy, this is no time to scrimp and save !

How nice it is to come on here in a morning and see us linked with players rather than sitting to the deadline day and seeing little or nothing until the last day.

why the fook do players do this

I now make that ten or so rehashes of last week's L'Equipe interview.

I'm not 100% sure that it is, it seems to come from an interview to a radio station later than the newspaper one.

He's not saying anything particularly out of order, apart from him thinking he can help the team in some way, I'd think cutting the half time oranges will be about the limit of his usefulness.

To be fair though, I'd swap plenty of rumours and sitting in the bottom three with fuck all happening and still a chance of champions league qualification.

£2/10s/11d is his basic but he gets an extra 5 bob appearance money plus the club pays his tram fare

Have to admit I have not seen enough of Makoun to judge him, but from clips of seen and what I have read he seems to be exactly what we need.

At 27, he is in the prime of his career, he scored the goal to knock Real out of the CL last year (what a goal) and is an experienced international.

Yet GH is saying 7 mill is too much!! Unless his contract is running out at the end of the season, that seems like a pretty decent price to me.

If we lose out on this guy over  1 or 2 mill I think a lot of the fury will be vented at Randy. I mean that's not even half the spare change we have from the Milner deal!

It's too much if you haven't got £7m to spend.

It would be the Douglarse / Robbie Keane incident all over again!

We have already saved a million plus by the release of Sidwell. Makoun is what we need right now. Get him and start rebuilding. This will allow other players to move on where we will recoup money and slowly get rid of the "dead wood" .....

If there is money to spend it doesn't mean we have to be stupid. Even Man City haggle a bit... they didn't just come in and offer us £30 million for Milner did they? £7 million is a lot for a player who is due to be out of contract and if the board think they can persuade Lyon to drop their price by playing a waiting game then fair enough.

Well hopefully Lerner will note that Makoun will be a first team player and not sitting on the bench on high wages. Therefore people like Beye/Ireland who are on joke wages can move on and we can then bring "first team" players in who are playing every week and earning there money ......

Not forgetting the £3.5 mil SHA paid for that utter tosser.

In theory, using a calculator, belief in what you read in the newspapers and applying the 'spend what you get in via incoming transfer funds' model - we have around £23m to spend plus the Sky money.

I agree in theory, however we may not be the only club interested to him and if an extra 2m is the difference between us getting to talk to him exclusively and him having the choice of 2 or 3 others clubs then i suggest we cough up.

If we lose makoun for the sake of a million and end up relegated and lose 30 million then yes randy will look stupid- even if we just spend the milner money then it means we haven't actually spent more than recouped in 3 transfer windows- if that were the case then I could understand why mon walked out- the money must be made available this month or it will be clear that there is no money - in which case how could we expect to progress?

Please randy give the manager the money we require to bring in another 3 decent signings or we may find ourselves stagnating in footballs backwaters!

If as you suggest risso, we may not have £7m to spend then we are indeed up the creek without a paddle!
