What we paying ? Possibly about £1.5(ish) million for him until the end of the season?....given the madness of prem players transfer fees that's not a bad deal for him. We need a left back, we've got less than a month to sort one and let's face it, we are not gonna be signing any top class left backs for a fortune...

If indeed he comes here

Because it makes a mockery of everything the board have been saying the last year or so, i.e. crap players on high wages is a no-no. As i said above we could have paid milner 100k, and saved Ireland's 80k wages and fee. how would our wage bill be any higher?

So, with our wage bill still being too high, the answer is to pay Wayne Bridge £90K a week?

What's the delay with villa getting in a striker. They always want to buy RB/LB/CB/DM players, never CM/ACM/ST.

Jarvis or Adams anyone. Adams was fantastic the other night and he's younger than Young?

Yea but as I said it's not like he's on a long term contract....I'm not saying it's a great deal but needs must right now. Just can't see what all the fuss is about myself. Hey ho...

One thing is for sure we will not be signing any English/British players  in Jan.

You sure!

i would have thought a striker was a priority. Read a few reports saying we had 15m to spend which is what i would hope would be available if a few of the deadwood could be jettisoned, but i'm starting to get worried there's nowt there. Hopefully i'll be pleasantly surprised.

As I said on another thread, I wouldn't be surprised if it were available but the board aren't too keen on breaking out transfer record for Houllier's choice of striker when he might not be here in six months.

I would understand it perfectly if we stuck to a few loans in this window rather than threw large amounts of money around.

Edit - as long as none of those loans are Wayne sodding Bridge.

We still have to score to win. That has been a major problem for me!

we need a striker. either they back his judgement with money or sack him.  you can't run a football club hedging your bets

Scored 3 at Chelski...and that wasn't enough ;-)

Totally agree of course...we need a striker, and a midfielder or two, and a CB maybe...apart from that, we're fine...:)

Not long term you can't.

But you can muddle through a dismal season and then review your options at the end of it. We've done it before and we'll probably do it again.

What happens when Houllier spends huge amounts on a striker that the manager we get in the summer doesn't want?

If past history is anything to go by, you'll be the first one complaining about money being wasted.

So we get in a loan until the end of the season to get us the half a dozen goals we need to keep us up.

Plenty of money for Houllier's replacement to spend in the summer.

lets hope we can find a club willing to loan us a player of that quality

We're only allowed two premier league loans and those might be taken up with Walker and Bridge.

Narrows the field even more.
