What we must avoid is panic signings such a Robbie Keane

I'd rather a Keane than some nobody from Jamaica.

remember when we signed that nobody from Trinidad & Tobago? I can only imagine what this place would have been like had the internet existed back then. It's not a permanent deal, so how about we just give the bloke a chance and get behind him?

Are you having a laugh on the Yorke comparison? Agreed that if he arrives we should get behind him of course.

why am I having a laugh? What was your opinon on Dwight Yorke when he first arrived? Any different to Cummings? You'd never heard of him - right? Nobody is saying Cummings is the next Dwight Yorke. But I am saying why would you dismiss a player so quickly without any knowledge of him whatsoever?

My opinion on Yorke was similar to my opinion on Forrester, Barry, L Moore and various others we have signed as 17 year olds with supposed bright futures ahead. We have had mixed results there. My opinion on this bloke is similar to the one I had on Bartelt, De Bilde, that Defender O'Leary signed (name escapes me), and the other not exactly fresh faced loanees we have taken on over the years. Get my drift? Like I say, when the bloke pulls the shirt on he'll get my full support, but it doesn't sound like the type of attacking player to help get us out of the shit.

Cummings is 28, he's left it late.

He's a nobody. God help us if this is the sort of player Lerner is only willing to invest in.

You lot are missing the point like Ronnie Rosenthal missed the open net at the Holte. The player has come on loan for a couple of months. He isn't a saviour, he's just someone who has a decent record in the MLS that might be able to help out for a couple of months. So given those are the facts, why are you and others dismissing him as opposed to getting behind him and hoping he does well in Villa shirt if he gets to play? The Dwight Yorke comparison is that you knew nothing about Yorke when he joined irrespective of his age, and you know next to nothing about Cummings. So just give him a chance.

I seem to remember when Donovan joined Everton last year most people wrote him off. How did that work out? I'm not saying he's about to bag us 15 goals. But it's no lose situation for us and the player and isn't any indication of our transfer strategy.

Cummings has a club, he's just come on loan a bit like Larsson to Man ure or Beckham at Milan

What's wrong with everyone for god's sake

No offence buddy but that post made me laugh out loud!

Yes, if the bloke is an addition to the bigger plans, I'd be a lot happier. Time will tell.

Me think Villa will sign Fofana at the end of season on free transfer as we had word we will sign an experienced midfielder. So this way Fofana can develop a little more in France.

When has he failed to back a manager?

The last transfer window? (When we had a manager before he left!)

Look if DJ Campbell can score goals in the Premiership then there's hope for Omar  Cummings

So has Cummings actually signed, or is he still only on trial? He's an experienced international, so I don't see the harm in him boosting numbers in a wafer thin squad. Gabby isn't firing, Heskey's already injured, Fonzy isn't being given as much game time as we may have expect, and Carew has one foot out the door already.

We desperately need to sign some quality attacking options during the window, but no harm in this fella trying to have an impact from the bench. He's coming from a poor league sure, but he may surprise a few. If he disappears without a trace it won't surprise anyone in truth.

I see we are being linked with a loan move for Adebayor. He's on massive coin so Man City would have to pony up a good chunk of that. He can certainly play, and for 6 months he might make a difference. I'd take that, ship Dunne to Blackburn as part exchange for Samba and send Ireland to Everton in a swap for Pienaar. Bring in Makoun, a left back, possibly Given and sneak Fofana in at the deadline. Done.

We've got hoverboards in 2011 if that helps!
