So we are all complaining that our wage bill is too high.

Now we are complaining that we haven't signed a player who is asking for too much.

I think it is good that the club are making a stance and thinking of the long term, instead of our last manager who just cared about short term success and personal
Glory.

If true well done Gerrard.

But if Houllier can't even attract French players he's worked with who can he attract (other than Pires)?

Does Houllier serve any  purpose, never wanted him as manager but thought he may at least be able to attract some decent players. Jeez what a fucking shambles we've become......

When did "fail a medical" become "can't attract"?

Who has said he failed a medical? Houllier didn't mention it.

That's what was said last night.

Whatever comes from this transfer window, we'll know whether our board means business or not. Early signs suggest the latter, but let's see what happens.

Well a great start to the window. We fail to sign a promising young continental star for peanuts (for whatever reason), and are on the brink of getting some no mark from a shit league on loan. On cowing loan.

On a positive note however, at least it's clear that stuff is going on already, rather than on 31-1. Makes a pleasant change. I just hope we have a plan B.
If we don't, Lerner needs to make the plan B to change the manager.

I understand the argument about the wage bill but the bottom line is that we have missed out on a highly rated player. It's a peculiar type of spin that is able to present that as "great news".

Houllier must have several targets. Really is a matter of what sort of money is available and what players are leaving .....

It appears the Forfana deal fell through based on wages not a medical

Strange as he's young and supposedly talented and you'd have thought the board could have seen this as a shrewd investment, the lad could be worth millions in a couple of years time

Is it not something to do with new rules coming in that wages can only be a certain % of your turnover? Possibly why Abramovich has said that Chelsea need to become self sustaining too?
