The players like Ireland  on fat wages  insisting their  contract is maintainted  if their current club wishes to offload them will evantually drive the salaries to a more manageable level as the Clubs realise they have no one else to blame but themselves. New contracts will either be protected in favour of the club  or structured to avoid the wage liability.

I think the player has every right in wanting to maintain their  salary.

Let' move him on quickly and learn the lesson... He can mess their team up and it's closer to Manchester for him.

That'd suit the lazy sod, wouldn't even have to move house.

Still Keane for me - He will keep us up and importantly won't need time to settle. If we don't get him, and he goes to another relegation threatened club, it's going to be painful watching him score goals and keep that side up.

I reckon we need Keane and someone else though. We can't just rely  on our one new striker to score bags of goals, even if it is him, because who knows whoever we buy might get injured in the first couple of weeks and then we'd be no better off than now.

Keane on loan - yes. Keane permanently - no thanks. We don't need to be shipping out Carew at his age and wage, and getting the same in return.

I am so glad he wasn't playing yesterday. Watching Spurs run down the clock while he gave away free-kick after free-kick at the edge of their box

We're not gonna get a quality striker in january. Or we'd be very fortunate to do so. Or it'll be an unheard of foreign signing, who will need time to settle.

I'd probably take Keane on loan if possible, or as short term as we can get him. He needs games, and he knows the Prem inside out. He'd provide a bit of guile and a few goals up front at least.

I would hope that the rumours of Wheater and O'Neil aren't true, we need better than that. Also Keane on loan maybe, but permanently definitely not.

Agree. Keane for the next 18 months and someone else for afterwards (but get them in now). A 20-21 year old with bags of potential. Carew is off, Heskey is not getting any younger, Delfonso (IMHO) is the one of our young crop who won't make it, and that just leaves inconsistent Gabby, so we could definately use 2 strikers. Carew and Keane are indeed comparable in age and wages, but we would get a hell of a lot more back from Keane for our money, and he is much more the type of player we need at the moment.

I thought our problem was the last manager filled the squad with expensively paid players with a limited shelf life on their last big pay day. So Keane would help how? He's not good enough for spurs so i don't see why their cast-offs are good enough for us.

After watching this season, I would seriously consider selling everyone of our 'senior' players & replace all of them.
